SparxreaderReviews of sparxreader.com

So happy my school doesnt use this absolute joke of a website anymore. I wish there was a 0. This is 100x worst than sparx maths. Yet again im overjoyed my school doesn’t use this. 1) XP: So just because I cannot recall one question means that I get a significantly lower amount of xp? We use to have to get 300 and it would take me ages. 2) Amount of time: Other people will find this easy and simple, but let me tell you this. Not everyone in this world can recall information from a text easily (like me) and have to remember it, especially when there is 3-5 questions. Sometimes, I remember this took me 1hr- 1hr 30 to complete. I would get so angry that I genuinely wanted to throw my phone out of my window. 3) Capabilities (links to 2) 4) Book choice: Boring books, nothing special at all. Surprisingly, this website is still running and schools STILL USE THIS. What a joke, 0/5, what a tedious app, Just like Sparx is tryna ruin our lives

Would give it a zero if I could, it's an absolutely dreadful app. Every bloody week, I am forced to use this abomination of an app, for 30 minutes and it's pure torture. The books are so bland and so dry, I just feel like sleeping. They give me random books in different genres that I don't even read or find boring, like historical. Even the books in the genre I prefer, (fantasy), are so utterly BORING. You don't even get to search up a book you actually like and read sections of that. On top of that, the gold reader thing is horrendous. I've had it about a few times and even when I read a bit of a book I choose for gold reader, the SRP just gets stored in some bank. It says it will give you the SRP when you finish reading the book that Sparx reader chose for you but it never does. Absolute sham of an website, STEER CLEAR.

absolutely awful book choice. every book is something to do with the past and even when you chose a book preference it completely ignores it. this website is dreadful and should be taken down. i hate it with a burning passion and do not use it

Honestly, Sparx Reader is so frustrating. The books we get to choose from are seriously awful and boring. Even after the update where we're supposed to be able to choose our preferences, the recommended books are still ones I never picked — like, what’s the point? It makes no sense. It’s like they didn’t even read my choices. And doing Sparx Reader feels like a punishment. Most students would actually enjoy reading if we got to pick books we like, not ones we hate and have to force ourselves through. How are we supposed to get better at reading when we’re stuck with books that make us want to fall asleep? No one wants to read when it feels like a chore with zero respect for our actual interests.

Terrible learning app and is pointless

Absolutely boring app for homework, if they didn’t just have reading through a random story that you probably don’t even know/dislike (mainly because most of the stories look quite fake). If we had more fun activities/assignments I might actually complete homework faster. If the app decides to change then I will actually start to like English again. Most students in my school hate this homework app mainly because of how it runs.

I read Sparx reader books on behalf of my daughter because she finds it impossible to get into the few books she can choose from. I have just been given the next choice out of the four books. The themes are 'King Arthur', 'black death', 'WW1 trenches', and an apocalyptic sci-fi. My daughter is a sensitive 13 year old and in no way is she likely to get into reading if the theme of book is so far from what she would enjoy reading. If she was actually doing the homework, it is an utterly uninspiring, lazy form of homework. Fortunately I'm reading it for her but I'm actually terribly dismayed to have to choose between these next four books!

I absolutely hate this app. I do about 4 questions each round and i only get 10 xp whilst i have to get 300 in total to finish the homework! WHAT RUBBISH! I HATE THIS APP SO MUCH! I DO NOT RECOMMEND!!!!!!!!
