SparxreaderReviews of sparxreader.com

Its so useless like i actually dont understand what they were thinking investing in this for so many school, look the thing that pisses me off the most is why can i answer questions while reading its literally how we answer test papers in real life. :/

I hate sparx reader as it takes way too much time for me to get 600 "sparx reader points".

Genuinely Hate it the fact that you have to memorise every little thing that happens in case you get asked about it is so annoying and when you get those questions youre not allowed to get one of them incorrect or you have to read the whole page again reading should be about actually enjoying the book, going at your own pace, and not have to turn it into work

I have to read sparx for school and my lord it is absolutely terrible, you get a choice of absolutely atrocious books and it barely gives you a choice in those books as it makes you pick 1 of 5 it selects for you, and most of the books on sparx and so short that they give you about 7 srp and make you read forever just to finish. It is a terrible website.

It doesn't help anyone and its only job is to create stress and get kids into troble.

I’d rather stare at my wardrobe for 10 hours tbh 🤣

Most of the time i don't like homework but i do it anyway, however, the fine exception to this is the sparx platform. Sparx maths , reader and science don't help me like they are supposed to , they make me want to drag my computer straight to hell along with the absolute bombaclat who thought this shit education system was inovative . I would give it minus stars if I could , but apparently the people who made sparx have feelings . But apart from my blasphemy , the system repeatedly give you questions that are not made for your skill set , and sparx reader gives you the worst book choices of the 21st century. Not to mention that online you are 76% more likely to forget the material learnt because writing down homework produces muscle memory corresponding the the word written , but for all of this to be done on the internet which is proven to be harmful by the goverment and scientists , it proves that the UK has failed the generation in education because of the fact that is done on a low-quality website. To sum up this review , the sparx platform is very bad because of the quality and the system that I am 100% sure is run by AI .

Having an website that gets you to read and engage with books is in theory a good idea but one that can only become practical when implemented correctly. Sparx Reader fails quite horribly in this sense. To begin with, they only offer a limited selection of books suggested to you to choose from, yes this cuts down time wasted on picking a book but it also heavily restricts the content that you read to a select few genres that the site seems to arbitrarily choose. This means that often times you end up reading books that you would not enjoy usually as there is simply no other option. This also generates a problem with book series where, especially with Sherlock Holmes for me, once you finish reading a book from the series 2-3 other books of that series are suggested to you, further limiting the scope of books you have available. This is detrimental to Sparx Reader's ultimate goal which should be getting children and teenagers into reading books through easily accessible means and results in less people enjoying reading as a whole On top of this an arguably more egregious decision by Sparx was the points system. To ensure that you have in fact read the book, each extract is split with usually 4 questions. This oftentimes means that you read for 1-3 minutes then get cut from that flow state and forced to answer very simple questions for a random amount of points. Points given are officially determined by amount of time spent reading (which in and of itself is an issue) but this usually ends up being incredibly arbitrary with wildly different point scores for similar lengths of time spent reading. In order to finish the assignment set by your teacher you will need to reach a certain amount of points, decided by the teacher, typically 300SRP (Sparx Reader Points). This leads you to spending ~30 minutes performing stop/start reading that has little benefit on development of your vocabulary and is very low quality reading. Again, this is detrimental to Sparx Reader's ultimate goal of getting Children and teenagers to read. All in all, this site is a net negative not just for its failure to get Adolescents to read but also because of the fact that it actively pushes people away from engaging in books, English and Education websites as a whole.
