Thanks for the feedback. Just to clarify a few things: We do offer perpetual lifetime licenses. The optional subscription exists because our Virtual Collaboration platform relies on globally distributed STUN/TURN infrastructure for zero-latency remote tracking, synchronized sessions, video, and other real-time services, all of which have ongoing server costs. If you own a lifetime license, you can completely decouple from the subscription by running your own Linux TURN infrastructure. We focus on pure cross-platform compatibility so projects transfer 1:1 between macOS, Windows, and Linux. Audio Units are exclusive to macOS, which would lock projects to a single platform. Since collaboration across operating systems is a core part of SoundBridge, we chose to support cross-platform plugin formats instead. We're also actively exploring CLAP support for the future. We know our approach isn't for everyone, but these decisions were made to prioritize cross-platform workflows and remote collaboration rather than platform-specific features.
