Thanks for the feedback. Just to clarify a few things: We do offer perpetual lifetime licenses. The optional subscription exists because our Virtual Collaboration platform relies on globally distributed STUN/TURN infrastructure for zero-latency remote tracking, synchronized sessions, video, and other real-time services, all of which have ongoing server costs. If you own a lifetime license, you can completely decouple from the subscription by running your own Linux TURN infrastructure. We provide a full step-by-step guide, and you're free to own and operate your own servers indefinitely: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8racMwOO0rs&t=12s Regarding AU support: that's an intentional design decision. We focus on pure cross-platform compatibility so projects transfer 1:1 between macOS, Windows, and Linux. Audio Units are exclusive to macOS, which would lock projects to a single platform. Since collaboration across operating systems is a core part of SoundBridge, we chose to support cross-platform plugin formats instead. We're also actively exploring CLAP support for the future. We know our approach isn't for everyone, but these decisions were made to prioritize cross-platform workflows and remote collaboration rather than platform-specific features.

Thank you, Al! We truly appreciate your support and thank you for taking the time to write such a thoughtful review. 🙏 You’re absolutely right. Building a DAW is uniquely challenging because of the chaotic nature of third-party plugins, drivers, and hardware. That’s exactly why we stayed in open beta for nearly 10 years, focusing on development and stabilization before ever charging a penny. More recently, we brought on a former GPU Audio PhD with a specialization in CI/CD. Together, we’ve built a modern development environment and infrastructure designed to deliver high stability, rigorous version tracking, and tooling that will remain reliable and maintainable for decades without knowledge gaps. We’re now at hundreds of thousands of lines of code with a small team of eight people, and we take documentation, internal standards, and corporate practices extremely seriously so you can feel confident relying on SoundBridge for the long haul. Thanks again for being part of the journey!

Thank you, William, for the kind words and for giving SoundBridge the chance to prove itself. 🙏 We know that experienced DAW users are understandably skeptical, so it means a lot to hear that you kept coming back and found real value in the workflow. Our goal has always been to focus on the essentials and remove unnecessary friction, so you can stay in a creative, distraction-free mindset and finish your music without fighting the software. Hearing that this approach helps you work efficiently at a professional level is incredibly rewarding for our team. We truly appreciate your support and your trust in SoundBridge.
