I would give 4.5 out of 5 stars, so I rounded up. Initially, I was a bit skeptical when the college I am attending provided Sophia Learning as an option to complete some of my courses by taking 100% self-paced courses at Sophia Learning. But, after reviewing Sophia information, I signed up for a free trial account and completed the first lessons of the all three courses that I was considering completing at Sophia and then transferring to my college. That went well so the next day I signed up for one month using a discount. I worked very hard for the next 3+ weeks and was able to complete all three courses within my first month at Sophia. I wrote all my touchstone assignments without AI and never had any plagiarism issues. I will agree that the multiple choice answers on some of the questions can be very frustrating due to their wording and some having more than one correct answer, but answer would apparently be 'more right' so, if you select any of the others, you would be wrong. Milestone tests are all 'open book' and I could be reading the paragraph with the answer and still choose the wrong multiple choice answer. These are why I would deduct a half point. But, overall, I wouldn't hesitate to round up to five stars because, although the courses cover a lot of information, the whole process was truly exceptionally convenient and it delivered exactly as advertised. I was able to complete and transfer three classes (9 units) all within my one month's discounted subscription; that's the classes completed for less than $100! That's an unbeatable deal! The staff were very helpful too, sending encouraging messages and asking whether I needed any assistance on several occasions. I'm very glad that I signed up. Thanks Sophia Learning for helping me to complete three courses at an incredible price that saved me a lot of time and money!

I signed up for Sophia Learning because I believed its flexible, self-paced model would be ideal for my situation. I am a U.S. Marine Corps veteran and a 100% disabled veteran, and I am currently a stay-at-home father caring for a newborn baby and a toddler while trying to work toward my bachelor’s degree so I can eventually become a school teacher. Between chronic pain related to my disabilities, medical appointments, household responsibilities, and caring for two young children, flexibility is extremely important to me. That is what attracted me to Sophia. Whenever I had free time, I worked on courses. Sometimes I could work for hours, while other times I had to stop because one of my children needed me and return later. Sophia eventually suspended my account for an alleged Honor Code violation and told me my assessment activity suggested the use of resources that were not permitted. What has been most disappointing is that I was never provided enough information to understand what specific assessment, activity, or conduct I was supposed to defend myself against. I submitted a detailed appeal, provided documentation showing that I am a 100% disabled veteran, and explained my circumstances. I also explained that during an oral presentation I had written down my speech and relied heavily on it while recording because of my disabilities, fatigue, and sleep deprivation from caring for a newborn. My appeal was denied, my account was permanently deactivated, and I was told I am prohibited from using Sophia again in the future. I understand and respect the need for academic integrity. My disappointment is with a process that can result in a lifetime ban while giving the student very little information about the specific conduct they are being accused of. I chose Sophia because I thought it would accommodate the realities of being a disabled veteran, a parent of two very young children, and an adult trying to start a new career through education. Instead, this experience has left me extremely disappointed. I hope Sophia improves the transparency of its academic-integrity process and gives future students enough information to meaningfully respond before imposing a permanent ban.

0 Stars Absolutely Terrible Experience Sophia Learning has been taking my money for almost a year, yet I only completed ONE class. I paid over $700 in membership fees for one course because I simply didn’t have enough time to finish the others. After canceling my membership, I asked if they could at least honor the class I was already about to take, but they refused. After paying more than $700, I expected some reasonable consideration or flexibility. For me, this has been an extremely frustrating and expensive experience. Paying that much money for only one completed class feels completely unreasonable. I also discovered that some universities may not accept Sophia Learning credits, which makes the situation even more disappointing. I would not recommend Sophia Learning unless you are absolutely certain your school will accept the credits and you can complete the courses within the membership period. In my experience, the cost was not worth it.

Worst experience I have ever had with online education. Their cheating detection is completely inaccurate, and there is a high likelihood your account will be terminated with NO APPEAL. Do any other learning website besides Sophia Learning.

I have completed several courses through Sophia to fulfill my general education requirements and other prerequisites for the school where I plan to continue my major. I really enjoy the platform because it allows me to complete courses at my own pace while saving both time and money. Although some courses are challenging and require extensive writing and research, they’ve helped me improve my writing skills, which has always been one of my weaker areas. Like many adult learners, I have to balance school with work, family, and other daily responsibilities, so I often study whenever I can fit it into my schedule. Recently, I noticed that Sophia removed the option to download course materials as PDFs. I was very disappointed because I rely heavily on that feature. I learn best by highlighting important information and writing notes in the margins, which is much easier to do with a PDF. Having offline access also allows me to study anywhere without depending on an internet connection. This is especially important because my workplace has unreliable service, making it difficult to access the online course materials during my breaks. I sincerely hope Sophia will reconsider this decision. If the concern is preventing cheating or unauthorized sharing, I understand the intent. However, people who are determined to cheat will often find a way regardless of the format. Unfortunately, this change mainly affects honest students who are simply trying to learn in the way that works best for them. Removing the PDF option has made studying more difficult than it needs to be. Many online colleges and universities still provide downloadable course materials or offline access because they recognize that students have different learning styles and varying levels of internet connectivity. I hope Sophia will take these concerns into consideration and consider bringing back the PDF option or offering another form of offline access. Doing so would greatly improve the learning experience for students like me who depend on flexibility and accessibility to succeed. If this is the case, I might consider another I genuinely value Sophia’s platform and would prefer to continue taking my courses here. However, if the PDF option or another form of offline access is not reinstated, I may have to consider other schools or learning platforms that offer affordable courses with more accessible course materials. Accessibility plays a significant role in my ability to succeed, and I hope Sophia will take these concerns into consideration when evaluating future updates.

Worst app ever.

I signed up for Sophia Learning to earn affordable transfer credits and worked hard to complete my coursework honestly, without cheating or using unauthorized materials. Despite this, Sophia accused me of cheating based on their internal systems and refused to consider my explanation or any evidence of my legitimate work. Being falsely labeled as dishonest was extremely stressful and damaging, especially when I was following the rules and trying to improve my education.[trustpilot] Their academic integrity processes feel opaque and one‑sided, and students have very little recourse when the system gets it wrong. I’m leaving one star because I can’t recommend a program that treats honest students this way, and I hope they improve their investigation process, communication, and willingness to review mistakes fairly.

I did 10 courses and had a deadline to apply to Law School. The English was the most delayed because they take their sweet time to grade touchstones. You cant submit another complted assignment unitl they grade the previous one. After spending so much money with them I encountered issue with the Science lab-The company Labster was involed Dmitrys and manager Teresa who was on the chat with Sophia Learning Supervisor Brian. They both ignored all my evidence showing that the lab was mute, no audio direction, and clicking everywhere it did nothing with the rat. This went on for 2 days to the point i had to file BBB and DOE, and FTC complaints. I would just do as many classes if you have the money for at your college; this situation was a nightmare
