The website questionnaire disabled the "other" option for at least 5 questions. My other answers were ignored - or at least the recommendations didn't match any of my answers! If it starts out this bad, I would definitely choose a different company if I ever had money to save.

Honest vendor, gives you what they tell you. I've been in the financial advisor marketing world for 10 years and SmartAsset has been the best lead vendor I've seen. Only reason it won't work is because you don't.

I want to be clear up front: my account manager is outstanding. She is super-efficient, responsive (usually within minutes), proactive, and a genuine asset to my experience with SmartAsset. Nothing below reflects on her in any way — my feedback is entirely about the lead system itself, and I'd ask that it be routed to product and operations leadership rather than her queue. My concern is lead verification. The leads I receive are quite often extremely questionable as genuine, reachable prospects, for numerous recurring reasons: invalid or disconnected contact information, prospects who never recall inquiring and are not receptive to contact, duplicate submissions, and on occasion contacts who are already working with another advisor — suggesting they aren't screened against existing relationships. The verification and qualification layer is where the system falls short, and it directly affects the value of the allocation I pay for. I would trust this gets fixed. I'd be glad to share specific examples if that would help engineering or operations investigate.

The percentage of leads that are actually interested is very small. The biggest problem is when leads are double or triple sold to advisors, the leads get overwhelmed with communications and lose interest. The investable assets and conversion rate are well below what Smart Asset expects. The monthly subscription prices are too high.

The deft sales system keeps you following up on the calls your supposed to being doing to set appointments. I would recommend a drop-down box for a call back date. The prospect will say call me back this date and it would be nice to have that fall into the task section that date.
