I'm very disappointed with this company. Do not purchase from them. My grandmother recently passed away amid the pandemic going on. It's already hard enough dealing with a death. My family purchased from this company. Nice website nice representation w.e.
On the website it says free shipping. They delivered the item and called my sister talking about please sign this document confirming you received the item. Next thing we know a extra charge of $500 was taken from my mother's account.
Very disappointed. There's already a lot of losses going on in the world business must be booming for this company & they're still trying to get extra cash out of people. Very sad. Go elsewhere. Treat people how you'd like to be treated. That's all.
Condescending, Unprofessional, Facetious, Contentious
The family called one week after a 5/4/2020 e-mail and spoke to gentleman who stated his name is Travis. Travis sounded like the same person who also provided the name Matthew during an April 2020 phone call. Travis attempted to berate, bully customer and hung up the phone without hearing or resolving customer issue. Travis stated he would have any future calls routed to his personal cell phone as he was the "head guy" in charge and told his staff and attorneys what to do at the workplace. Travis made sure to point out he was in Manhattan, NY and would not provide customer service to a Chicago customer. Travis' behavior boarders on extreme and outrageous given the circumstances of his line of business and lack of empathy for a grieving family. Please see the May 4, 2020 e-mail sent to Travis and/or Sky Caskets, below:
Dear Sky Caskets:
The Noble Blue Brush casket is advertised and priced at $1,195.00 on your website, which includes free shipping . (attached to e-mail correspondence)
On invoice order 15347, Sky Caskets charged customer $1,592.00, an extra $397.00.
On the day of the funeral services, a cardboard "praying hands" insert placed into the casket head space by Sky Casket fell out and disrupted the funeral services and upset the descendant's loved ones. Sky Casket never informed customer the "praying hands" was a cardboard insert when discussing the product but instead allowed customer to believe the praying hands was a part of the original unit., sewed into the fabric or permanently fixed to the casket unit.
This misinformation occurred when customer requested a casket with stainless steel praying hands on the outside of the casket and Sky Caskets chastised customer stating the hands on the outside are "gaudy" but Sky Caskets would include the hands in the inside, complimentary or free-of charge. On the date of the services, it was apparent why the "praying hands" was free-of-charge, the addition was akin to an arts and craft inexpensive cardboard insert.
The insert prevented the casket to be fully locked and decedent was nearly buried with the casket seal slightly opened, until a loved one announced the defect moments before the pallbearers lowered decedent into the vault.
Sky Casket made the experience of losing a loved one during the COVID-19 pandemic more challenging by providing a defective product, which was not bargained for, and by making it difficult to conduct business. The customer and his family had to make several calls to Sky Casket, which it found via a CostCo referral. Sky Casket continued to send incorrect DocuSign paperwork, have disruptive 3-way phone communications, and attempt to up-sell, cross-sell, or misrepresent free "praying hands." The invoice does not specify the difference in advertised price as compared to priced charged to the customer. Also, Sky Casket left the removable sticker on the casket stating, in part "18 inch Stainless Steel."
The customer and his family are requesting a reasonable refund based on the poor service and poor quality of the product.

Stay Far Away From Sky Caskets
Allow me to summarize for consumers reading this complaint. The Sky Caskets team is a fraudulent, poorly run, and incredibly unprofessional organization. I would advise any consumers dealing with funeral planning to stay far away from considering doing business with this company. You will be taken for a ride and will pay a steep price for your mistake. Please stay away from this company. It's not worth your time and money.
My sister recently purchased from Sky Caskets directly and was guaranteed a rush delivery time and date as we were preparing to bury our late father. The team was so eager and quick to complete the transaction over the phone but provided little to no clarity on the shipping process, timelines, and overall delivery expectations. We were guaranteed to receive the order at our funeral home of choice at a specified time (due to our funeral home rush planning process during COVID-19 pandemic); instead, it arrived half a day late. When my sister called about the delay, she was scolded, talked down by a misogynistic customer service rep. He refused to listen to her complaint and didn't even bother to assure a guaranteed time. He had no answer for why the company failed to deliver the product on time. Instead, he continued to harass my sister verbally and hung up on her when pressed about the delay. We paid a premium for rush delivery to ensure guaranteed delivery at a specific time to work with our funeral director. Unfortunately, it didn't arrive on time as promised.
My funeral director told us that the delay in casket delivery would push back our funeral planning. We had to make the difficult decision to select another option from the funeral home because our casket hadn't arrived on time. We couldn't sit around and wait for a product that wasn't delivered.
The same rep calls me at the end of the day and tells me to hug my sister for finally delivering the product. He did not explain the delay in shipping or offered an apology for his poor behavior towards my sister. Bewildered by the experience, I hang up because we have a funeral to plan, and I don't have time to deal with unprofessional people.
Not being able to use the casket we paid for because of delays in delivery, my sister called the company to issue a return. The same rep fails to answer her initial calls for two days. He finally gets back to her and submits a return slip for her to sign that mandates Sky Team to collect 95% of the total billed amount for restocking, open box policy, rush delivery, and other miscellaneous fees tacked on.
Now the company is disputing the transaction with my bank and stating we were delivered the product on time, which is an apparent falsehood that can be easily proven. I have no interest in resolving this matter with Sky Caskets as they have shown zero interest in handling this dispute professionally with their horrid customer service team.
To any future consumer planning a funeral for a loved one, I ask one thing of you: stay far away from doing business with Sky Caskets. They will promise you the world to close a sale but will be a nightmare to deal with regarding customer service, support, and anything else you need. It's not worth the few hundred dollars you may save. Work with your funeral home and keep your sanity.

First off let me start by saying we do our very best to help people in a time of need. We received a call Friday afternoon stating you wanted a casket delivered to the funeral home the next day. We had to ship out a casket for next day delivery with express shipping. During this covid time there are many shipping avenues that have stopped. We are still able to ship caskets quickly. We told the family we would get it there as soon as we could. We kept the customer in the loop as to exactly when the casket would deliver. We called the customer multiple times to let them know the scoop.
Later after the customer received the casket they called us back and said they did not want it anymore because it was metal and they ordered the wrong casket. They wanted a wood one and wanted to cancel. At the time of order we always send out a copy of our invoice showing what model was ordered. This customer signed next to the casket model. It was the metal casket. Never in the call did the customer tell us they wanted wood.
We are still willing to take the casket back and offer a refund to the customer if they would like.

I feel that this is the most unethical…
I feel that this is the most unethical and mean-spirited company I have ever dealt with. The ad stated "Free Ground Shipping." The website stated "Free Air Delivery to the Funeral Homes." When the invoice came showing shipping charges from Utah I immediately calledthat afternoon to cancel.Their website states they are open 24/7. No answer, but left msg. Then I emailed my cancellation the same day at 9:43pm. I immediately got a call back that evening saying he would talk with the owner about some credit, but to give him until the next day at 11am. At 2pm I called and he told me he would call back after talking with the owner. I called twice after that and
he said he was working on a $300 credit. I wanted a full shipping credit.
He told me to cancel the order but there would be a cancellation fee of 25% for re-stocking and $550 to return item as he had already
sent it even though I canceled the order before he could have sent it.
He said now I could not get any credit at all because I was not returning the casket. He started yelling at me and said I did not read the fine print.
Let me tell you how the order goes. They have you auto-sign on the Internet and go really fast page by page. There is no time to read any fine print as the owner was having me sign so fast.
And, of course, I trusted a casket company to be ethical.
The free shipping includes a very short distance from the airport.

This company is scam
This company is a scam. I tried to cancel 2 hours after ordering and they refused. The casket was asked to be customed made and it wasn’t. I called and was hung up on. The funeral home called on my behalf and was cursed out.I was told to cancel the order it was the total cost of the casket. So basically, either used the crap they sent me or they just take the money and casket too.Taking advantage of people is not good and pray GOD have mercy on you. SHAMEFUL!!!!!!!!! The casket wasn’t custom made. The ladies where still on the outside of the casket— How could I bury my brother in that? The casket arrived to the funeral home less than 24 hrs of ordering. And a refund of $76 is not a refund, when $1392 was paid.

Misty I apologize for the experience you had. As you stated in the review this casket was customized for you. Our policy clearly states that we do not return or refund custom caskets. Also, when you called to cancel not 2 hours later but actually 4.5 hours later yes your casket was already in transit. We move caskets right away to hit their deadlines. That is why we are the best in the business. We didn't have to do a return or refund for you but we did to help out. We are trying to help you but we cannot ship caskets out for free. We do have to be compensated for it. Please know we are here to help families the best we can.

STAY AWAY FROM THESE CLOWNS
All I can say is WOW. I was floored by the outright lies, the attitude, the rudeness, and the lack of professionalism on the part of skycaskets.com. "Matthew" the "CEO" is a rude, high pressure salesman.
The most staggering thing was the outright lies. He claimed to supply all the caskets for my chosen mortuary. They had never heard of him.
Don't be fooled. He does a quick google search for your chosen mortuary while you are speaking and uses that information to pretend to be familiar with them.
When I attempted to back away, he tried to scare me into believing that me, a total stranger who called him out of the blue, was getting a $500 discount that only he could provide if I purchased right then. Total SCAM.
Fortunately, the "red flags" were obvious, and I gave him no financial information. Needless to say, I bought the needed casket from someone else.
Be SURE to check out their poor BBB reviews as well. They are listed there as Sunset Caskets, LLC. Apparently they are also fastcaskets.com.
