SCAM
SCAM. Customer service doesn't answer. When signing up the app said there would be an option to pay a deposit to boost your profile. The app took money from my account without any confirmation to do so. In the money back promise section, it said that you can get your deposit back within 24 hours of signing up if not satisfied and get deposit back. Tried to do so and message was gone and I got an email with a receipt saying non-refundable? Then said that I did not accept two jobs. Jobs that were posted and accepted on dates before I joined?? which means I don't meet their 'money back promise' criteria in their terms and conditions. Continuous emails and no answer. EU law - refund must be given if service was not provided or was not suitable for purpose.
Response from SittsySep 18, 2026
We’re sorry that the payment and Money Back Promise conditions were not clear, and that you have not found a response from customer service. The paid sitter activation is disclosed before download on the App Store and Google Play pages. The listing states: “To join Sittsy, every sitter pays a joining fee, verifies their ID, and passes our quality checks.” Adding or saving a card charges nothing. A payment happens only when you choose a plan and press the payment button showing the amount, such as «Pay 50 €»; the amount must be displayed before authorization. After every payment, the sitter receives an email with two PDF files: the invoice and a copy of the payment screen they authorised, showing the plan, amount and button pressed. The bank may also request its own check, such as an SMS code, 3-D Secure, banking-app approval or biometrics. Sittsy’s payment provider can request this check, but the bank decides whether it is required. Activation is a one-time payment, not a subscription or payment for a guaranteed booking. It starts identity verification, quality and safety checks and profile review. This is important because owners trust sitters with their pets and, for some services, their home and keys. Activation does not guarantee bookings: owners choose which sitters to contact or book. The Money Back Promise is conditional, not an automatic right to cancel within 24 hours. A sitter who chose a plan with the Money Back Promise and meets all its conditions can receive the deposit back if no pet owner books them during their first 30 days on Sittsy. There is no refund during those 30 days. The conditions include applying to at least 80% of booking requests received, replying to every request within 24 hours, keeping the calendar open for at least 24 of the 30 days, having 5 approved testimonials and keeping the profile complete. If no owner books the sitter in the first 30 days and they decide to stop using the account, the deposit is refunded when all conditions are met. A plan without the Money Back Promise is final and non-refundable, and the payment screen states this before paying. For sitters in the EU, EEA and UK, the payment screen also states before paying: “By tapping «Pay 50 €», you request immediate activation of your account and acknowledge that you lose your right of withdrawal.” Regarding the jobs mentioned in your review, we cannot confirm the dates or eligibility of individual requests from a public review. The Money Back Promise conditions apply to the offer selected and the requests received during the relevant period; requests posted or accepted before activation would not establish a booking after activation. If you cannot find customer-service replies, please check Spam, Junk and Promotions, search for messages from [email protected], and check that your mailbox is not full. You can contact [email protected] again from the email address linked to your account. The payment email containing the invoice and the copy of the authorised payment screen also records the plan, amount and button used.
