Small Account Mastery not as advertised
Trading involves risk, you have to know you may lose what you invest. If you can't afford it, don't trade. With that being said, I started with the SAM April 11, 2021 with a 10k account. The day of my first trade was April 14th and happened to also be the day John reset his account "as if" it were a 10k account but stated he would pull out funds on April 20 for the actual reset. The funds were not actually removed until May 12th. Why is this important? Because during this time frame, I took every single trade, with my account going from 10k, to 10,400, then a draw down to 7,500 by early May. John did a great job navigating trades with some nice winners getting my account back to 10,800. The catch, John's account magically went as high as 14,900. How could this be? Well, since he reset his account in May, instead of April, he did not have the draw down others like myself experienced. Mulitple webinars after that point, he still pointed to that high mark of 14,900, ignoring the 25% drawdown preceding. Since that point, it has been all down hill. Even today, 12/13, on the SAM monthly call, I listened to him say he had a good 2019, good 2020 and good first half of 2021. What????? Good first half??? Maybe first quarter. His trades are posted, you can see everything he did, which is great. However, it's reached a point of denial with John, April and beyond has been a dumpster fire. Even to the point where they have shut down the comments section in the app. So much for community. With my rant over, here are some things I noticed that are not advertised. 1. John travels. Since I joined, he has traveled once a month, usually for a week at a time. 2. When John travels, his 'assistant' takes over. She is very nice but not the 'expert' I am paying service for. 3. Trade small, you don't have to risk the same amount as John. This saved what I had left in my account, 55 percent, instead of a possible 35 percent. 4. March 2020 through March 2021 John absolutely killed the markets, kudos to him! However, it's worth noting, he did not travel during that time. April 2021, he started traveling again and his results have belly flopped. 5. John continues to point to his yearly P&L as a barometer of his success. This was based on trading a larger account during the 1st quarter. If he had not reset his account, he would be down big. 6. The up selling of products are never ending. It gets obnoxious. 7. If you pay for the service, let the profits pay for new products, don't keep digging into your own pockets. 8. You can learn to trade through Simpler Trading. However, there are many free options as well that are just as good. 9. There are multiple trading rooms from which to choose. Research each room individually before choosing. I have heard there are some rooms getting good results. That's it for me. I took a chance, followed John's trades in the SAM, got burned, learned my lesson and moving forward. I think John has a great mind for trading, I've read his books, learned a lot but his lack of self awareness was really disheartening. 12/14 - One quick edit. I looked at the positive reviews for simpler trading. One common occurrence I noted is not one recent positive review talked about their performance in terms of profit, only generic positive statements. If I had profited with John, I would have been yelling it from the roof top how much John was making me. 2/16/22 - Update I happened to see this response from Simpler Trading to a review posted on 2/9/22 regarding SAM: "There was an account reset in January 2022, as there always is, but there was not one in February. " I was part of the SAM two different times, for a total of 12 months. John, NEVER, spoke of a yearly January reset. He only spoke about building the SAM account to a large account, reset, repeat. When did John reset the SAM in 2021? May, not January. My original post attempted to be objective and fair based on my experience. But this reset in January 2022 shows how fraudulent this service is with John and the SAM. I have not been involved with the other ST groups. If John ran his small account into the ground, would it not behoove John to trade a smaller account he has advocated in many videos? What a joke. Once again, the recent positive reviews reek of reviews that were not from actual traders. They lack specifics and only general statements. I call BS on this company, shame on you. How do you sleep at night when people are losing tens of thousands of dollars following John? Do the right thing and stop SAM, let John post about his big account, which he really only cares about anyway. No response from ST to any of my posts, truth hurts I guess.
