I ordered a plugable displaylink dock. Within a few days of using the dock its HDMI port stopped working. They will not accept return without the original box it came in. So now I am stuck with this $300 faulty device. Worst place to buy any electronics.
Edit: Replying to ShopBLT.com's comment
Yes, I barely missed my 30 days return date. I would have returned the faulty product if I was able to return it without the box it came in. I can understand I need the original box if I am returning a working product. But, for a faulty one I should be able to return it without the box. Other online store like Amazon and Target do accept returns without the original product box (atleast for the faulty products). I reached out to Plugable to get this replaced, but they told they don't cover products from "unauthorized third-party retailer". So, now I am stuck with a ~$300 dock that doesn't work.
Edit: Thank you ShopBLT for agreeing to help out with replacing the dock. I have created RMA for the product.

UPDATED REPLY:
We purchase this product through a manufacturer authorized distributor, therefore, the item is covered by the warranty. We recommend that you submit an RMA request online as indicated below, and we will work with the manufacturer to gain an exception to assist you. If that is declined, we will work with the manufacturer to have the item replaced under the warranty.
ORIGINAL REPLY:
Your order shipped over 30 days ago. As stated on the site, in your receipt, and on the packing slip, we're only able to accept returns or perform replacements within 30 days of the ship date and original manufacturer's packaging is required to return items. If you wish to perform an exchange you were certainly welcome to use the replacements packaging to return the defective unit, however, as 30 days has elapsed, we'd have to request an exception from the manufacturer to perform an exchange. They will be happy to assist you under the product's warranty, however. Please note that we do spell all of this out clearly and plainly in the Terms of Sale which were to displayed to you before you ordered, in your receipt after you ordered, and in your packing slip included with the shipment. We're sorry that you missed that information we provided in several places. If you need assistance contacting the manufacturer or would like to request an exception to exchange the item, using the replacement's packaging to return the original item, please visit the site and click the "Returns / Exchanges" link on the left side of any page.

Don't accept Paypal, only credit cards
Great service, I just wish they accept Paypal. Come on ShopBLT, it's 2021 and all you take are credit cards? Time to raise up your game.
PS: To answer your reply, this takes two stars off your service because nobody likes to give away her/his credit card details while secure online payment methods like Paypal or Venmo are available. Most online resellers use Paypal or other similar secure service, I don't see why you cannot.
Response from ShopBLT.comJul 11, 2021
That may be coming soon. We've investigated it in the past and found their costs to be prohibitive. Not sure why that deserves two stars off our service, though.
UPDATED REPLY: Unfortunately, some of these services do not fit our pre-order business model, which is why they're not currently used.

Mixed feelings about my ordering experience. Several orders placed, starting last year. So far ZERO items shipped. See review for details...
It's too bad, as I have read elsewhere that they have a good reputation. Because of what I had read, I have ordered several different items from them, from graphics cards to desktop CPUs. I haven't made any huge orders. Just one of each item (minus the 3400G, which I ordered two of).
One of the items I ordered had very few orders placed on it. I considered myself lucky, as I had got my order in very close to when the product was listed. Sadly, the manufacturer's estimated ship date was delayed. I was informed in an email. Then it happened again.
And again.
And again.
AND AGAIN.
You get the idea. Here we are, approaching EIGHT MONTHS of waiting. Every single item I have ordered from them, starting last year, has been perpetually delayed. It is hard to believe that "manufacturers" are giving them these fake estimates that keep changing, month after month. If that's the case, why would ShopBLT even provide any kind of estimate at all?
Take the 3400G for example - I was able to order one off Newegg long since I placed the preorder from ShopBLT. There's a microcenter about two hours from me with a stack of them in stock. These restock frequently nowadays, and you can finally order one without scalper markups.
But ShopBLT? NOPE. "Estimated" ship date is pushed back again and again.
REVIEW UPDATE:
They have shipped 0% of what I have ordered from them. 100% of my orders with ShopBLT have been either canceled, or endlessly delayed. Perhaps other products ship in a timely manner, but I think that they should change the term "Pre-order" to "wish list" or "queue". Otherwise, you are preordering items that have NO ACCURATE ESTIMATE on when they will ship. You will wait for months, often while other retailers re-stock and sell out of those same items you "preordered". This is very frustrating, and this is my biggest frustration with ShopBLT. My recommendation is that they eliminate the "preorder" button, as a preorder still implies that you are ordering something that will be released or restocked SOON. Wait times on current hot products still appear indefinite, and often they are simply getting cancelled. Even EVGA, who goes down their list meticulously and sends an individualized buy link to each person on the list, in order, calls their system a "queue". The button says "auto-notify", not preorder, and this is a more accurate term. The word preorder still carries a strong implication that you'll get a product, and the ETA implies an estimated time. BLT's store even goes so far as to show how many are ordered and how many are incoming. Normally, I would shower them with high praise for such transparency, but how can you have an actual number of "incoming" at all for a product that gets cancelled entirely? ShopBLT needs to be more up-front about this. Yes, they have the disclaimers that the ETAs are not from ShopBLT, but the manufacturers, but these numbers are turning out to be ENTIRELY FALLS, and BLT should warn customers of this alarming trend and practice. It would greatly reduce the feelings of frustration or disappointment, or at least make it easier to direct such sentiment towards the manufacturers/distributors rather than toward ShopBLT.
If they actually ship SOMETHING that I've ordered over the last several months, I'll be happy to update my review. Until then, buyer beware.
Full disclosure: I have been in direct contact with ShopBLT, and due to our correspondence, I have updated my review wording, and also changed the rating from 1 star to 3 stars. That level of communication alone is impressive, and I am VERY grateful they reached out. I want to give them 5 stars, and there are two ways they can earn those two stars back from me:
1. They could be TRANSPARENT on these high demand items. Don't call it a "preorder" anymore. If you insist on calling it a preorder, be totally transparent on high demand items that there is a very high likelihood that your order will be cancelled or indefinitely delayed regardless of the "ordered", "incoming", and "ETA" reports on ShopBLT's website.
or
2. They could actually ship me something that I have preordered.
Either way will earn them back two stars. ShopBLT has been in the business for a long time, and I appreciate them reaching out to me personally to try to resolve my frustration with this situation. They are also frustrated with this situation, and their willingness to communicate speaks volumes about their company and their care of their customers.

"Fake stores" do not remain in business for 30 years. Period. We do not generate ETAs. They come directly from the manufacturers and suppliers from whom we purchase, and we simply relay them. We understand, and share your frustration over delays. Unfortunately, we have no control over the speed and quantity of production by the manufacturers. We simply must wait for them to produce sufficient product to fill the orders. When they push back their ETA's, there is truly nothing we can do about it. We are always seeking alternative sources for products, and do our best to fill orders whenever possible. And, there is no charge to place a pre-order, and customers are free to cancel at any time without penalty, should they find the item elsewhere.

A true customer here
A true customer here. I like shopblt, at least it gives me hope to get my card. But after waiting for a few months and nothing shipped to me, and seeing so many new 5 star reviews, I feel like something is wrong. To new customers: order products from shopblt if you are willing to wait for a few month without knowing if you can get your cards. Good thing about shopblt is they don’t charge you before shipment,I wish they charged me something for deposit or whatever, at least it shows they want to ship something to you.
—from a sad customer
First update on 05/13/2021:
David from Shopblt reached out to me and explained a few things that can help other customers like me to clear confusions.
1. "No customer is ever allowed to jump the line." I was under an impression that some one left 5 stars review saying they got their GPUs faster than me even tho I placed my order earlier, and I left the initial review with 1 star. It was emotional and not fair, if you asked me right now. I'm updating the review score to a neutral 3 stars now.
2. All reviews are from true customer, and your order information will be verified.
That is what I'm gonna do:
1. I will give another update based on my genuine experience after my order shipped or at least complete one business cycle, and hope that will help other customers who also have waited in lines.
2. Folks, at least we know shopblt cares about customer and respect the order in line. For now, let's just wait.
Peace and Love!
Response from ShopBLT.comMay 11, 2021
We sell more than just graphics cards. Not everyone is trying order an item that is, industry wide, difficult to obtain. Nevertheless, you will always get your order as long as the manufacturer doesn't discontinue the item.
It's only recently that many customers who fail to understand the situation in the industry with graphics cards, have come here to complain about manufacturer ETAs that we simply relay, that have brought our review score down. We were a five star company until folks who misunderstand that we don't manufacture products, decided to blame us for the industry wide shortage of graphics cards and certain CPUs.

I have ordered a gpu and an amd cpu…
I have ordered a gpu and an amd cpu from them and it has been almost two months. Still, they are kept pushing the ETA every time and god knows when they will be able to deliver (if they ever will).
I understand that the market is very unstable right now and not getting a preferred gpu/cpu is quite normal since these are stock out in every place. My complain is about their customer service (while particularly replying to the negative reviews) and the was they are dealing with these pre-orders. There is a minimal transparency and misleading information. For example, if you follow the pre-order of 5900X, you would see that there are more than 23 thousand people are on the queue and they have confirmation of around 15K. As one of the pre-order customers, I know that we have an ETA in the next 10 days (they send an email to the customers when they miss an ETA stating a new date). So, if you are a new customer, you would definitely think that this is a very good scenario since, more than half of the orders are confirmed with an ETA of 10 days ONLY.
But, it is an absolute bogus commitment of them. I have already went through 4/5 of such ETA and they never get such a large amount of stock. They will probably get 50~150 processors and will fill up the pre-orders serially. At this pace, it will take couple of years for them to fulfill the current backlog. Still they are accepting pre-orders and they are trying to get away with this by posting a message that ETAs are not a confirmed date.
Rather than hiding this from customers, they should mention how many units they are getting each time. If they cannot announce the number with certainty, they should give a close approximation. Just because they do not charge the card for pre-orders, they cannot obscure the customers from the actual scenario. Many of the customers are ordering by seeing those data and hoping to get their product very soon; which will never be the case. As a customer, we should have the right to know. They even do not tell you what is your current position in the queue.
Also, they attack every reviewer who write against them telling they are an old company and is in business for years. Sorry if this sounds harsh, but you should train your Customer Service Department to teach them how to behave. Don't be a cry-baby and defend every complain customers are raising. Sometimes it is bold to accept a complain and doing so you do not put yourself in a bad position rather it helps you to get better acceptance in the community. Please, BEHAVE, BEHAVE, BEHAVE. If you cannot, LEARN HOW TO BEHAVE.
UPDATE based on their first reply:
This reply of yours is a good one that we as a customer always appreciate. Why do you sometimes risk years of business with some of those rude reviews? I am increasing the rating from 1 to 3 since they responded here and also in my email.
JUST TO MAKE IT CLEAR, I DO WANT to continue with the orders and I DO NOT HAVE a problem waiting.
Truly, I got disappointed by seeing the negative reviews' replies. It is a difficult time and I do understand the delay but does it justify some of those replies? I hope your answer is not, too.
Also, I would request you to disclose my position in the queue (definitely not here in public but either on the order confirmation page or in my email) if possible and the approximate number of items you are expecting in the next ETA (not the entire confirmed number).
Kindly solve these queries and I will definitely put good words here and will increase the review to 5 stars.
Hope you understand.

About what I expected
While I see what many people are complaining about, you have to approach your criticism from a different way.
I was able to order a GPU from this site even though they were out of stock. However the downside of that is that you expect the package earlier than later, which is not the case with this website. And I will make it clear, that that is completely fine. That being said, I wish they would give you and estimated time until arrival instead of their “ETA” which ends up being very inaccurate.
A nice thing is that they have decent customer service. I sent and email to them regarding my order number and got a response within a couple hours. They also allow you to cancel an order if you pre order it which can come in handy for what I suggest you use this website for.
I’ve seen responses to some people’s complaints. And I get where they are coming from, however I think they do need to address that whatever manufacturer they have is unreliable. Yes, it says that the “ETA” is not always right, but that doesn’t mean you make loopholes so that you can delay things even more. So yes, they do say that it might take more time, but I still think that area lacks in customer service because of how unreliable their estimated time is. That being said, just be patient and you’ll be fine.
Right now, I have pre ordered an RTX 2060, it’s “ETA” is somewhere around 3 weeks I believe. What I would suggest you do, is pre order from this website, and if you find a good deal on another website, snipe it and just cancel your order from ShopBLT. It’s as easy as that. Sign up for email notifications from Newegg and B&H so that you can immediately buy there.
Overall, this website is reliable, but just about what I expected from a not as well known retailer. And that’s completely ok!! If you don’t want to worry about time, I would not recommend this place. If you don’t care, then I would highly recommend!
Response from ShopBLT.comJan 20, 2021
We understand, and share your frustration. However, we do not generate or push ETAs, nor do we use them as a "loophole". We simply have nothing to do with their generation. They are provided by manufacturers and suppliers, not us, and we pass them on to you.
Unfortunately, we have no control over the speed and quantity of production by the manufacturers. We simply must wait for them to produce sufficient product to fill the orders. When they push back their ETAs, there is truly nothing we can do about it. We are always seeking alternative sources for products, and do our best to fill orders whenever possible. As we aren't manufacturers, we cannot predict whether a manufacturer will meet any ETA they provide or not.
We appreciate your thoughtful review, and the rest of what you've stated is essentially the correct approach. Place an order, and if you find it somewhere else, cancel the order. It costs you nothing as we don't charge until orders ship.

Fair pricing, Slow shipper, very very slow RMA
Pro: Prices are fair on items offered through this distributor and doesn't have the typical price gouging seen on other sites.
Cons: Very slow to get stock on high demand items. Original order date 6/4/20, original estimated restock 06/14/20. Changed estimated restock 06/19/20, actual ship date 06/27/20.
Very slow RMA process if choosing 'Hold until defective item received'
RMA opened 07/2/20, shipped 07/3/20, verified received 07/08/20. Told I must wait a full 15 days from date received to see any status update on RMA when contacted on 07/16/20.
RMA Status page does not track date defective item received, date defective item catalogued, or give reason why full 15 days must be waited on.
RMA status page does not track if they have held any received stock so it can be sent out immediately upon being notified they received the defective item in their catalogue.
Changes I would like to see that would improve rating:
1. Update RMA process to include why it is necessary to wait the full 15 days before a replacement will be sent out on received defective items.
2. Change RMA status page to include date defective item is received, to be updated within 1 day of verified receiving via UPS tracking number.
3. Change RMA status page to include if replacement stock is being held to send out immediately upon verified receiving of defective item in catalogue to remove further delays in the process.
Reason:
Due to a defective motherboard I got, I ended up having to RMA my CPU as well through the manufacture since by the time I got the motherboard I was past the distributors 30 day policy. I sent both items to each location on the same day and they had to travel the same distance, were received at each location on the same day. In less than 10 days I have my replacement CPU, was updated each step of the way of when the got the part, when they were done verifying it was still covered under warranty, and when they shipped it.
In the case of the defective motherboard I had to contact BLTShop customer care to get an update only to get a confusing response saying they hadn't had verified receipt of the defective item yet. Then after a second email with the tracking information showing they had received it that I had to wait the full 15 days before I would see any status update. They also couldn't tell me if they held onto one from available stock they received since RMA was opened, or answer if I would be waiting longer after the 15 day wait meaning this entire process will take nearly 3 months or longer from the date I initially order it, got a defective item, returned, and get a replacement back.
While I am happy with the pricing, the overall speed in which their process works, and accuracy of process is less than satisfactory and could use improvement.
In response to below:
"For clarity, it isn't 15 days and isn't a required wait period. It can take -up to- 15 business days......during this pandemic."
Your being compared to similar industry distributors I have dealt with during this pandemic. Out of all parts I have ordered to include Ram, CPU (High Demand item), Case, Power Supply (very high demand item), Mother board (Very High Demand item), Graphics card (Very High Demand Item), NVMe, SSD, and HDD storage your company has taken exponentially longer to get parts from. In fact, parts from only you has taken 2-3 times longer than other distributors of similar parts. Therefor this is a fair review comparison. Additionally, other reviews have verified that you have had this slower than average processing/shipping as far back as 2015, so again is a fair comparison for review rating.
"This is always the case and does reflect exactly that with ...... inventory arrives. "
This did not address the problem with which I brought up. The issue is, that this process states I must wait until you have verified the Hold replacement is back in inventory and catalogue before you will physically hold the replacement stock -and- will result in a further delay should this not occur by the time the next stock is depleted meaning additional wait period. It is far more effective to hold the replacement part pending your review to shorten the process. If found not to meet requirements then that item can be reversed to other orders for same item.
Final response:
"Untrue. This site is replete with people praising our fast processing."
This site, possibly, but this is not the only review site. Much like shopping around is important, getting reviews from multiple sources is as well, but this is now splitting hairs.
"Yes, it did. What you're stating is inaccurate and confusing."
According to what I said and your response is how it was interpreted. Again, your status page does not accurately show this.
Also I did contact you prior to this review via email. This review is based on that interaction.
Response from ShopBLT.comJul 19, 2020
7/19/20 - Final Response:
"This site, possibly, but this is not the only review site."
True, but it's the most reliable review site and the only one that doesn't gouge resellers for the privilege of actually interacting with customers and replying to reviews. You won't get this level of interaction with us on any other site as we don't participate elsewhere as a result. As we said, most people who do complain about delays are complaining about things we can't control. Your complaint about returns processing speed during a pandemic is unique.
" It is far more effective to hold the replacement part pending your review to shorten the process." and " Again, your status page does not accurately show this."
We're not sure how else to state this. That is what we do, and it is reflected on the RMA status page with the words "In stock Yes / No" on the replacement line item. We don't know of any other way to clearly state if the item is in stock or not on the order. Yes and no seems about as clear as it gets. We have made other changes, already, based on your dissatisfaction with a timeline of when a returned item is received at the warehouse. That is shown on the RMA status page for you, and everyone else, now.
"Also I did contact you prior to this review via email. "
Okay? We reply to every e-mail, so we're sorry if that reply wasn't clear enough to you. Hopefully, you have a better understanding now.
Lastly, due to your dissatisfaction, we will see if it's possible to speed up the process for defective returns / exchanges. We have had people try to scam us by returning something completely different than what they purchased, but those cases are very few and far between. Therefore, it may be possible, for defective items only, to ship the replacement item (if in stock and allocated to the replacement item as reflected by "In Stock Yes / No"on the RMA status page) immediately upon receipt of the defective unit. In your case, that is what we'll do to try and make your experience a better one.
===
7/19/20 - "Additionally, other reviews have verified that you have had this slower than average processing/shipping as far back as 2015, so again is a fair comparison for review rating."
Untrue. This site is replete with people praising our fast processing. We process in stock orders and ship them the same business day they're placed. This includes pre-orders when they arrive into inventory. You're criticizing us for out of stock items over which we have no control. Again, we are not a manufacturer, and have no control over a manufacturer's processes, delays, and ETAs.
"This did not address the problem with which I brought up. "
Yes, it did. What you're stating is inaccurate and confusing. When inventory arrives it is held for your replacement. We're not sure what else you're trying to state. There's no additional delays to allocate inventory to a hold replacement when it arrives.
It would've been nice if you'd given us a little credit for implementing your request to show when the return has arrived at the warehouse, and within 24 hours of you making this request on a 3rd party review site no less -- but folks can see that right here in our response.
If you need further assistance, please contact us using the "Contact us about this order" button, displayed near the bottom of your order and RMA status pages.

7/18/20 - Prior response:
"Cons: Very slow to get stock on high demand items. "
We're not a manufacturer and we have no control over the manufacturing process. You ordered during a pandemic which is affecting most manufacturers and causing massive delays. We can only rely on, and relay, the information we're provided at the time it is provided to us, and we do our best to keep you as informed as we are.
"Very slow RMA process if choosing 'Hold until defective item received'."
The entire industry is struggling to cope with the sheer volume of sales and returns, which has spiked exponentially during the pandemic. This is why advance replacement is an option, to ensure you get the item as quickly as possible.
Changes you'd like to see:
1) "why it is necessary to wait the full 15 days"
For clarity, it isn't 15 days and isn't a required wait period. It can take -up to- 15 business days. It's an estimate only, and usually things are handled within a few days of receipt -- but things aren't usual right now, so it could take that long to process. If you don't want to wait, "Advance Replacement" is an option. Otherwise, it takes time for the returns warehouse to process the sheer volume of packages they're dealing with right now, during this pandemic.
2) "include date defective item is received"
Typically, if we're provided with a tracking number, or if we're paying for the item to be returned and already know it, we include that on the line item for the item being returned, which appears as a tracking link. That leads to the carrier's website showing you tracking so you know when the item was received. If that's not showing up, then it's an error on the coding team's part, and we'll have that looked at to make sure it's properly populating.
We do keep, internally, a log of when the item was delivered to the warehouse, and we don't disagree that it may be helpful to include that on the status page. In any case, it wouldn't affect the time it takes to physically get to the package once returned, inspect it, and check it back into inventory.
3) "Change RMA status page to include if replacement stock is being held"
This is always the case and does reflect exactly that with "In Stock: Yes / No", on the line item. If not in stock, an ETA is listed on the replacement item if available . Hold replacement items are treated just like any other order's items, except, they jump to the front of the line when inventory arrives.
Regarding your interaction with us, we apologize if the information seemed confusing. Hopefully, you have a better understanding of the process now. We'll endeavor to make it as clear as possible going forward. Thank you for your business and feedback.
