This was a wake up call for me
This was a wake up call for me. I needed to ship my 1970 Jeepster commando. I contacted ShipWit and sent a deposit of $270.00 with a remaining balance due on delivery of $1000.00. They weren’t the cheapest offer and not the most expensive either. When contacting them before the deposit, getting in touch with them was fast and they were responsive. Not the case after they had the deposit. It was very stressful and frustrating to say the least. Once a truck was dispatched they said it would be there in 1 to 1 1/2 hours. 4 hours later I started wondering what was going on, fortunately I happened to check my email and noticed another contract for an additional $500.00 at which point I replied I would not pay more than the contract. I contacted the trucking company that was listed on the new contract and told them I would not pay so they ended up canceling the pickup. While I believe the company tried their best to meet my needs the rising costs of fuel and lack of drivers in California was their reason for not being able to make this happen. What I find disheartening is advertising a price knowing full well what the costs will be (most companies do this) bait and switch. I have repeatedly asked for a refund of my deposit. Nothing so far as of this review. I read the reviews on this site and many sound just like mine. I noticed they responded with “could not find the order” that may happen on this as you read the review, but it’s real. Buyer be aware that if you are given a quote and a contract they could send another contract without you knowing and if the vehicle gets loaded it won’t be unloaded until you pay the additional fee. I hope this review helps you make a more informed choice. They are brokers and deal with multiple transport companies. I tried to make an offer after I did my own research to suit us both, in the end they could not help me. Edit: since my original post earlier today I have been told the refund was issued. I’m grateful we were able to work it out and in the end they were responsive to the issues at hand. Giving an additional star.
