Be aware that if you have branded boxes or tape, Shipsurance will pay no claims for loss OR damage. It's quite the convenient loophole for them, since almost all legitimate businesses of any size use branded packaging nowadays. USPS damaged a big international shipment, and Shipsurance wouldn't pay because we had sealed the box with tape that had the company name on it. In response to Shipsurance: To be fair, they did pay several claims in the past. But then they asked for photos of our external packaging, and that stopped. So my choice now is whether to continue to use branded packaging—which is roundly deemed necessary for consumer goods and companies building a brand—or change our packaging in hopes of having insurance that I paid for actually pay claims.

These morons require your receiver to fill out some form to "validate loss" even though UPS has validated the loss officially via claim. They ask your customer things like, "desired resolution". I'm the shipper, and this is solely my choice and interaction, NOT THE BUYER. I paid Shippo/UPS to deliver a product to the end user, they SHOULD NOT have to "validate loss". Stupid and will never use again.

Package was lost in France and they refuse to pay, global shipping drop the ball and we paid for insurance. Shipsurance refused to pay, never use them again. Dragged out the claim for months. Do not use them, it's cheaper to self insure your own packages.

This company is a scam. It is the default insurance on Etsy and they should drop them and let us choose another company, even USPS insurance is better. My buyer received a damaged item, they asked me for documentation and pictures which I sent, after that they kept asking me for more documentation and pictures (this was 3 days after opening the case), they asked for things they didn't ask initially like pictures of every side of the damaged box and obviously the buyer didn't have the box by that time. Since then I avoid paying for extra insurance with this company. UPDATE because they "replied" . They asked for initial photos yes, but not the same photos until 3 days later when they did on purpose knowing people will likely get rid of the package by then. YES this is a scam, avoid this company at all costs.

Shipsurance may offer lower rates than those of what you are currently paying as we found out for ourselves but we've also come to find that paying extra is a true value when you compare the kind of service you'll receive from companies like Shipsurance. Seem to me that Shipsurance will do whatever it takes to delay the processing of claims as mentioned in so many other reviews. And there customer service is beyond terrible. I've filed a claim for $40 on a domestic package that hasn't moved in 2 weeks and Emma R at Shipsurance seems to think this is a delay due to COVID-19 which is false when the USPS tell you that they are operating at regular capacity in the area. Emma R also make it a point to go out of her way to patronize you and to make you think that you are clueless as to what their company covers. When a package hasn't had any movement in over 2 weeks and the USPS hub can't find it, ITS LOST! Bottom line....PAY THE EXTRA FEES to your existing vendors and avoid these cheap companies like Shipsurance. It's ironic to think that I read all those other reviews and thought, "can't be that bad and maybe it's the customer's who are overreacting" but now that I am experiencing the same issues and even with the same person that is listed on so many reviews (Emma R), makes me realize that cheaper is not better.

Let me start off by saying we are a large company that ships hundreds of packages daily. We use tape that has our company name on it. They would not cover a claim because of this. Basically, you need to ship in a plain brown box with nothing (I guess even the shipping label as well) that has your name on it. What a waste of time and money spent. Do not purchase insurance with them as they will try whatever excuse to not cover anything. Basically, you are giving your money away by using them. There are better options out there for companies.

This is the worst insurance company i have ever worked with. My shipment was lost in February and still they are not ready to process the insurance claim. Worst worst worst policy. You better look for other insurance company if you want to ensure the shipment is safe.

Do NOT use Shipsurance or shippingeasy.com to mail packages if you care about what you are shipping. I used shippingeasy to purchase postage to send my MSI laptop back to ExcaliberPC where I purchased it for some potential repair work. Shipsurance is the insurance offered by shippingeasy.com. UPS was the shipping company I foolishly chose to use and they damaged the laptop during shipment and admitted they damaged it. Shipsurance says my claim is not valid and they are not paying for any of the damage because I used the original packaging that had MSI on the outside that alludes to the contents. WHAT?????? ARE YOU KIDDING ME? The original packaging is the SAFEST way to package something for shipping (I used the 2 boxes MSI used to ship it to me in the first place with all the Styrofoam and other packaging.) Also, MSI said using the original packaging is the best. Millions of packages are shipped daily with manufacturers name on the box and that makes it ineligible for insurance? That doesn't even make sense!!!! This is the lamest excuse I have ever heard for not paying a claim. Shippingeasy says they can't do anything about it because shipsurance is a 3rd party company. Meanwhile my very expensive work computer is completely unusable now. And not once did anyone tell me up front I could not use packaging that had the manufacturers name on it. Shipsurance is using the lamest excuse I have ever heard to not pay a damage claim. They are crooks. Do not use shipsurance or shippingeasy.com - they are both scams. They just take the money and run.
