Completely ridiculous. They denied claim, saying the packing tape "alludes to the contents of the box" Really? We have a 3 letter company name, like ABC or RHW, no pictures of the product on the box, no words about automotive or racing parts. And this rule is specifically about things that tempt thieves, however the box was not stolen, it was smashed up by UPS, and still shipsurance denies our claim! Utter garbage.

Terrible. They use every trick in the book to try to deny your claims. Their terms are filled with exceptions where they will pay you nothing if you don't follow their specific rules. For example you can't ship a package that has logos on it at all - ridiculous. Basically a scam company. Avoid at all costs.

Bought insurance with them through Pirate Ship. They are non-responsive despite sending all paperwork they require.

Don't dare put anything on your box or envelope that has a company logo on it or they'll turn your claim down. Completely ridiculous saying that logo tape "alludes to the contents of the package" and therefore the claim is turned down. Such crap. UPS damaged the box and product plain and simple. Ship your stuff in plain boxes and envelopes if you want any chance of being covered by this insurance.

We’ve used shipsurance a lot over the years with Shopify. Now I wish Shopify would change carriers. Shipsurance puts forth so many delays anymore, even forcing you to wait for postal services to complete investigations that take MONTHS. Customers are glad and we all enjoy a false sense of security that we have insured packages UNTIL something goes wrong and they have to wait 20-40 days to file a claim, than 2-8 weeks for postal investigations. Unreasonable delays and we have to refund in advance of claim approval just to be sure customers aren’t angry at the incessant delays. Dear Shipsurance, If we buy coverage and wait the required long time to file a claim, pay the dang things out and don’t make us stall the customer even longer - FOR **MONTHS** We hate the experience now and are actively testing other insurers like Route. Shipsurance doesn’t care about your customers, and don’t care about your business and the consequences of stringing customers out for months to get a resolution. They only care about putting out as many roadblocks to paying claims as they can manage, for their own bottom line.

I have had three claim submitted to shipsurance via Pirate Ship and each time after making me jump through hoops to provide all their required info….even though a simple tracking search can show that my items were never delivered to my customers…I never received any compensation for the lost merchandise.

Complete scam. Unfortunately Shopify uses them as a partner for shipping insurance. I have no idea why a company like Shopify would use a partner like this. The amount of work and redtape they make you go through for a legitimate claim is nothing short of a scam. They have no intentions of paying claims. If you have a claim, you better hop you followed their T&Cs to a T or else they will find every loophole they can. If you ship on Shopify or any other platform - avoid adding the shipping insurance as they will do everything they can to NOT HELP YOU. Save the money.
