Be careful with this company. PayPal + ShipStation = Random Charges
I had a PayPal account for over a decade and always shipped stuff out using PayPal with no issue. They switched to ShipStation which I thought was pretty cool and so I continued to use PayPal to ship since it’s a free service. Just today, I was charged a random $5 out of nowhere. Nowhere on my account indicated any billing payments, no shipping label made, no shipping adjustments, no subscriptions, nothing. Yet PayPal allowed ShipStation to charge me. I understand $5 isn’t much but I don’t want this to consistently happen. I tried to get an explanation from PayPal who is ShipStation’s PARTNER. They told me to use the resolution center. I use it and I have no options to figure out what this charge is so I put it in as an unauthorized charge. I spent a morning hassling myself going through Paypal’s security verifications including changing my password even though the charge I reported was from their OWN partner! They denied my dispute saying that the charge wasn’t unauthorized and that I “agreed” to it so they didn’t give me back the $5. I live chat for further explanation only to get a snarky agent who told me that I don’t “have to” use ShipStation even though that was irrelevant to the problem. Overall, I say stay away if possible! Based on stories I’m reading online, it seems that this company has a terms of agreement where you agree to let them overcharge you in case for their mistakes for up to a year. If your package dimensions or weight is incorrect, they will also charge you without telling you for up to ONE YEAR. None of these charges are clearly laid out anywhere. They just bunch them up to a random price and just hit you with it. Very shady! I've just signed up with Shippo today and would never use ShipStation again due to their unethical billing conditions.
