Good concept but terrible software and problem analysis. You are required to fix their software problems yourself. You receive an email to fix a problem for them but then when you attempt to sign into your account using the exact same email, it tells you that the account doesn't exist. You are told to change browser or use an apple phone. When you use an different browser the account still doesn't exist. I paid for unlimited cleaning pods but then was told that I needed to re-order the unlimited cleaning pods but you will not be charged for them. If this sounds crazy to you it certainly makes me think I have gone down the rabbit hole. It took me over two hours just to start up the toilet cleaner only to find out that it doesn't spray any solution. The customer support is nearly useless.

Totally disappointing and frustrating
I preordered Shine and waited more than a year for my SAMs. I only received them after I emailed several timed and finally asked to cancel my order.
Finally they came. First, they only work with a secured WiFi, which we did not have. It would have been nice to know in advance. Anyway, my husband bought a router to password protect it, so I could hook the units up.
I charged them and hooked them up (after a lot of headaches) and the batteries drained within 48 hours. The help desk and text support took days to answer requests for support and NEVER actually read my detailed description of my problems. The website is totally NOT friendly. I actually found a solution by googling and not search on the web. This involved deleted the SAMs and reinstalling. I did it multiple times for two units. One is still draining in less that 48 hours. The second won't even connect or function anymore. I have two I can't even be bothered to hook up because I am so frustrated.
I have emailed twice, requesting a help returning all the units for a refund. OF COURSE, no one is replying. I am probably now stuck with $400 work on useless plastic garbage.
Please note for the few days they would spray (before dying) there was no real impressive or noticeable cleaning.
SAVE YOUR MONEY. DO NOT BUY THESE THINGS. They are pricy and full of headaches, with no real value.

just upsetting... Shine needs to spend more time and Money on the device and not on Marketing.
This product was simply released too early and it simply doesn't work. Nor do I know any "real person" who has not been paid for their glowing review to provide positive remarks.
Another Reviewer's story about gaining access to the "private" facebook group which is controlled by the company - only to then be kicked out of the group for attempting to engage with FAQ, product information, and troubleshooting is a common story.
I personally, was very excited. I work a lot of hours every week and was thrilled to have a device that would ease if not remove a benign chore that is easily and frequently forgotten.
Pros - As of yet, none - I have had the device for almost 3 weeks and I still can't get it to connect to anything let alone "work"
Cons -
The Shine bathroom app, is not congruent with the Shine website, you need two accounts. One to manipulate the device, and one to manipulate your account. When you need to access your account, the app takes you to the website which you need to again log in.
The Shine Bathroom app, isn't finished. There are a lot of things that was said that it "would" do, that it simply doesn't. Some things that are in the app, simply say "coming Soon"
Alexa Integration - The device is flat advertised on the website and anywhere else that you look that Alexa can manipulate the device. It doesn't as of yet.
Connectivity - The device is only supported by 2.4ghz wifi band, which most routers currently only broadcast in dual-band and not all of them can separate the bands out again. My Router can, the device doesn't connect in Dual-Band (Which the tec support video specifically says it should). But it also doesn't connect to my 2.4 band. Believing it may be a distance issue, I bought a wifi extender - and it still does not connect.
Marketing - ever since receiving my device the website, the app, "support" all link back to these paid consumer testimonials about how this device is so amazing and so easy, and you just need to do these quick simple steps. It is very clear that this is how Shine "wants" it to work, and how they "planned" for it to work - but it doesn't. However every paid youtube, google search, and facebook search is designed to prevent a customer from finding any community with others who have purchased the device. Everything leads back to their employees, and their resources which either don't work or arent helpful.
Support - Contacting support is largely a joke, from my experience thus far. The Text message is rarely answered, and when it does; it automated to have you schedule a video Conference. When you email, you get an automated reply to check their videos, testimonials, and FAQ pages and if after that you still need assistance to reach out.
I am not tec oblivious, I have done everything and more the FAQ & Videos have said to do and it doesnt work. I have scheduled a Video Confrence, and waited almost two weeks for that appointment. Four hours before the appointment, my zoom call was canceled. The reason for cancelation, left blank.
The more problems I have, and barriers I encounter the more digging I am doing and I just keep finding more people who are having the exact same problems as me, who are being drowned out by paid reviews and paid testimonials to trick people into buying a product that isn't ready.
Spend the 10 bucks on scrubby bubbles; at least it does what the label says it will do.

Horrible. Avoid
Horrible. Waited a long time to get the unit and it's a pain go setup and doesnt really clean much. I'm still using all toilet bowl cleaners as before.
What's worse is their support. In their facebook group they stated that the electrolysis process is dangerous and can cause harm and even be deadly if mixed with other chemicals and when asked to elaborate they kicked me out of their Facebook group. Many others get kicked out too for asking questions.
Avoid!

After waiting for over a year for this…
After waiting for over a year for this product, I installed one as directed, set the app and it began doing its thing. It is so frustrating and it doesn’t clean anywhere as well as good old fashioned cleaning. Doesn’t get rid of skiddies, and it really is a waste of time and energy to keep it charged etc, quicker and easier to just clean the loo yourself. It’s a ripoff and those who say it works perfectly, I bet they still have a toilet brush next to the loo. I think it’s a scam product, won’t set up my second one. It’s a pice of “crap” pardon the pun.

We're so sorry to hear that you're not entirely happy with the Bathroom Assistant. The behavior you described sounds like the battery might be dying too quickly. Whenever this happens its usually because the calibration process needs to be fine tuned. Our Customer Support is able to fix these problems in almost every customers home and we would love the opportunity to get these working for you. Someone from our team will reach out to you soon to open up a support request and get your toilets clean just like thousands of our customers.

Maybe the dumbest thing ever invented
I don't even know where to start with this... it was a gift to me for my birthday in August of 2020. After MANY shipping delays it arrived in September of 2021. When it arrived, the box had clearly been opened, and the cap to the device was gone. So, from there I message Shine, they say they are shipping a replacement cap. Great... three weeks later I've gotten nothing. I message them again, this time they've REALLY shipped a cap, and I even get a tracking number. Now I wait another 2-3 weeks and checking the shipping number, UPS says they are still waiting for the item, so I reach out AGAIN. This time they say they are shipping one, no tracking number, and I get a year of free pod water. Okay... great.... somehow by miracle of the UPS and Shine Gods the item actually arrives.
So now I have the item, and I get to installing it. Here's the thing... the design is completely flawed. I go to install it, and now my toilet seat doesn't close. I check their site, no information on this issue, no seat option to buy instead that will work (if you look at their pictures, they are showing some sort of a "raised" seat with a gap between the bowl and the seat, which just doesn't exist on my toilets in my place. So now I have this thing installed but with a stupid gap in the toilet seat that gets compressed down when you sit.
Now I leave it installed for two weeks, and my girlfriend is like can you please move this? Its uncomfortable to use because the seat moves when I sit, and its dumb anyhow.
So today I go to move it to my kids room, and realize I already need to charge it. It has a USB-C port (yes! they got something right) so I plug it in to charge... weird no lights are on, but I wait a bit and check the app, and sure enough its not charging. So then I go to their website, after trying multiple chargers, and the site brightly says "only charges with a USB-A to USB-C cable, if you don't have one dont worry we will sell you one". What kind of dumb-smart device specifically requires USB-A to USB-C instead of just charging off a USB-C cable? Anyhow, I found an old phone cable like this and now its charging.
All of this is done for a device that 1) monitors the amount of water you use on your toilet and 2) sprays the inside of your toilet bowl to keep it clean (literally the easiest part of the toilet to keep clean with a brush or a bleach pod). I don't know whether I should sell the thing and subject someone else to its stupidity, or just throw it out at this point.
TL;DR: This is a waste of time and money, a horrifically designed product that solves no actual problem in your life combined with garbage service.

Poor customer service
The Shine Bathroom Assistant device does not yet work as advertised. It does not pair with Alexa. You cannot manually get it to clean and you cannot schedule cleanings. I have had several different issues in the first month so far - including a leaking device that needed to be replaced (which I had to pay the import fees & duties for a second time), the devices disappearing from the Shine app for no reason, the batteries draining within a few days (supposed to last for 6 months), and cleaning pod orders not being shipped as ordered (I order 24 pods and only receive 12). I had joined the official Facebook group ("Shine Insiders") to connect with other owners of the Shine Bathroom Assistant. I posted a simple question there asking for help from other owners with an issue I was having, but I guess they don't want customers to help each other with problems with Shine Bathroom Assistant devices as they have now blocked me permanently from that group. When I contacted Shine Bathroom to ask for explanation why I was banned, they tell me that they do not have that information and that the Facebook Group is run independently from their customer service. All they will say is that the decision ban customers from the Facebook Group "cannot be overturned". I guess this way Shine Bathroom tries to hide the reason why people are blocked, and it's usually from pointing out issues or problems with the devices. I guess that is the risk you run when you buy these BackerKit/Indiegogo products that aren't fully tested prior to being launched. It's a particular shame that they resort to overt censorship in their Facebook Group and their customer service support team claims they are unable (or more likely, unwilling) to help customers with this.

EDIT: More bumps, less great. ORIGINAL: Overall great, even with bumps.
EDIT 1/27/2022
I was solicited to write a review from Shine right after I had a successful tech support call so I wrote an honest/good review a few months ago. Since then, things have gotten much worse. In mid December I started experience an issue where the device would spray randomly...annoying, especially if it happened to spray on me. From the Shine-moderated Facebook group it seemed apparent that this was a common issue many were experiencing and a fix was promised through the software. But nothing else was said. I contacted support three times and received automated responses, but never a real response from a real person.
Now one of my devices has stopped spraying altogether, although it registers a spray. I'd also heard of this issue happening in the Facebook group. I submitted an email. Auto response directed me to chat. Chat directed me to submit a request which sent an auto response directing me to chat. The Facebook group won't approve my post asking for help. And then I returned here to Trustpilot and found what everyone was saying about impending bankruptcy and lack of support.
Extremely frustrating, expensive (~$400) mistake supporting a company that couldn't deliver. If the device had been made mechanical first, with buttons to control making cleaner and flush calibration, at least the devices would have the potential to work. But since it's attached to an app, the investment, time, and effort is going to be flushed down the drain.
ORIGINAL REVIEW NOVEMBER 2021
The product is well made and it's a great idea. There are still some bugs in the app and the hardware so it doesn't work perfectly but the customer support team is working hard to help with issues. Any issues are communicated about promptly and even if there's not a perfect resolution right away, the team acknowledges and tries to address it. I'd love to see this functionality built into a bidet seat for even better positioning!
