I went with Shields Magnetics because their magnetic brooms are made in the USA and they don’t count the wheels in the length of their magnets. My unit was damaged in shipping but they were really nice to correspond with and made it right. Thanks.

We use this for new home construction cleanup. The magnet's power is just about right for dragging things out of the dirt. The release mechanism is difficult to operate when you have loaded up the bottom with a bunch of metal. And, it's too early to tell but I'd be surprised if the weak point in the design is not the handle. That's a lot of flex down there at the connection to the sweep and one carriage bolt and a relatively small anchor brace just ain't gonna do it. They say to remove the handle every time you "store" it but that isn't practical for construction. Generally, we leave things assembled. But, on the whole, we like it.
