Amazon treats fraud victims as the perpetrator...
Recently spotted an Amazon debit on my bank account which I didn't recognise. I contacted my bank concerned that I had been a victim of fraud. They confirmed the transaction appeared suspicious and quickly identified two other similar Amazon transactions I hadn't yet seen as suspicious. My bank quickly cancelled my card and provided another. Interestingly they said they were not in the least surprised I had experienced fraud. Apparently such incidents with Amazon are commonplace. I was refunded the amounts but Amazon as a consequence promptly cancelled my account stating they could see nothing suspicious and the amounts shouldn't have been refunded by Amazon. I then contacted Amazon to try and understand what had happened only to receive an automated response. I tried again to no avail. Amazon doesn't deserve people's custom if the treat fraud victims in such a manner. I am loathe ever to use Amazon again after this incident. Here follows the automated, unhelpful response. Hello, After reviewing your Amazon.com account, we did not find any unauthorized activity. As a result, we did not make any changes to your account. In many cases, what may have appeared to be unauthorized activity could have been one of the following reasons: -- An automatically renewed subscription. -- Activity by people you know who share your account or have access to your payment details. -- An accidental 1-click purchase. -- A charge for an order you had placed previously that just shipped.
