I was with them for my banking and at first was ok with them , but than they stole my hard earned money. They put my account into the red and than asked me for more money to be put into the black hole , I would not recommend them to anyone because they can’t be trusted with anything . Shame on them for saying one thing and doing something wrong without telling you till after the fact. These people sucking time

Terrible customer service for Mortgage
I have had 2 separate mortgages with Schools and both my children have mortgages with them. They USED to be wonderful before they became Schools 1st and the mortgage department changed. EVERY year they threaten me for proof of insurance even though I have uploaded the information to them through there portal and I have to call and speak to a representative. Recently I had to update my contact info which was correct on my cking/savings with them but not on the mortgage site. It would NOT let me do it online, so I called and spoke to a very nice representative but was told I had to MAIL in the request to update my info. I did as requested and received a letter back (2 months later) saying I also needed to attach a copy of my I.D. and told that I could just update it online. Do they even know there own policies? It does not let you do that unless you have a current phone # listed on your mortgage acct. I have previously recommended them to other but will never use them for a mortgage in the future nor recommend them to anyone. They have really gone downhill in customer service for mortgages.

CREDIT RUINED STAY WAY
CREDIT RUINED STAY WAY
I am extremely disappointed with my overall mortgage experience through SchoolsFirst Federal Credit Union. This was not one isolated issue; from the beginning of the home-buying process through loan servicing, the experience has been stressful, unclear, and disappointing.
Early on, we were connected with a realtor recommended through SchoolsFirst who came across as rude and uninterested in working with us. We ultimately had to find a different realtor outside of that recommendation. Then, during the mortgage process, the loan officer assigned to us provided very little guidance, was difficult to reach, and seemed to stop communicating with us even though we made it clear this was our first home mortgage experience. It was not until our realtor raised concerns that the loan officer acknowledged the issue and apologized.
Most recently, we had an issue with our mortgage autopay that caused serious damage to our credit. After one returned mortgage payment, we immediately took action to fix the issue. We made the payment shown as past due, paid the late fee, funded the payment account, and increased recurring deposits to prevent it from happening again. The mortgage portal still indicated that the loan was set up on automatic payment, but it did not clearly warn us that autopay would not draft while the loan remained one month behind. It also did not clearly show that another monthly payment was still required to bring the account current.
Because of this lack of clear website warning and poor communication, the issue snowballed into additional late reporting. We only discovered the problem after checking our credit report and seeing that our credit had dropped dramatically due to reported late mortgage payments. This has been devastating, especially because we acted quickly and in good faith once we understood there was an issue.
When we submitted documentation asking SchoolsFirst to review the situation, their response focused only on the payment dates and did not meaningfully address the unclear website interface, the automatic payment messaging, the lack of clear notice, or the efforts we made to immediately correct the problem.
I expected much better communication, support, and accountability from a credit union that markets itself as member-focused. Based on our experience with the recommended realtor, the loan officer, the mortgage portal, autopay communication, and the credit reporting review process, I would not recommend SchoolsFirst mortgage services.

I absolutely love my credit union!!!!
I am extremely satisfied with my credit union. They provided outstanding interest rates on all three of my car purchases. They consistently reduce my rate annually for my consistent on-time payments. I have also utilized their consolidation loan services, and they manage one of my primary checking accounts. The level of service has been consistently excellent, and their mobile app offers a wide array of convenient features, allowing me to conduct most of my banking remotely. I enthusiastically recommend this credit union, particularly if you have a family member who is a teacher or educator; they can often arrange for free membership.

Peerless Credit Union or Bank
SchoolsFirst is the best financial institution I have encountered in my several decades - we have been members since the early 2000's. Fair and cost-effective, the Credit Union is very responsive to issues as they occur. Compared to any other bank or credit union, SchoolsFirst is flexible, courteous and seems to be invested in the success of their members.

This bank has repeatedly demonstrated racist behavior. I recently encountered issues with a check I deposited, and when I called for assistance, they provided me with incorrect information and treated me unfairly, as if I were a criminal. This kind of treatment is unacceptable.

Absolutely terrible
Absolutely terrible. I had a car loan through them that I paid on for five years without issue. At the very end of the loan I traded in the vehicle, and went through a different agency for the new car loan. Schools First Federal Credit Union continued to call, email, and otherwise harass me for payment despite me providing info that the car was sold. They would not give any guidance on how I can avoid them dinging my credit with a "late payment," the representative just kept saying "yes, correct, you are responsible for the full balance still." I'm really disappointed with their services, and wish I had not been such a good customer for them for those five years.
