Sage Dental is nothing more than an Insurance Mill. They bought out my Dentist - who is still there and terrific - but all the admin is Sage Dental, and they are all about charging and upgrading services versus patient care. Went in for a cleaning. Dental Hygienist evaluated my gums (measured) then cleaned then fluoride and then floss. Got up from the chair and had a copay. Asked why and was told that their contract with Delta Dental dictated the copay. Had never had a co-pay for a cleaning. Called Delta Dental - they told me something is wrong. Sage is in Network so no co-pay. Called Sage and was told I was billed as a Dental Hygienist evaluation versus a cleaning so I had a co-pay. The Dental Hygienist always evaluates before they clean - that is their job on a cleaning, but now I had to pay a co-pay. I looked back at my last cleaning bill and then it struck me - the amount Delta Dental reimburses for a cleaning is less than the Dental Hygienist evaluation with my co-pay! no wonder they changed it.
