On October 10, I decided to sign up for Jumpspeak to give the platform a try. The website repeatedly highlights a “100-Day Risk-Free Trial.” However, I was immediately charged $69 upon registration. Right after starting, I noticed that one of the app’s main features — the AI conversation module — was locked, and an additional payment of $149 was required to unlock it. Throughout that same day, I received an excessive number of emails from Jumpspeak. One of them offered “bonus offerings,” including 7 days of free tutoring with a teacher on another platform called Rype. The message said: “The 7-day free Tutoring - Your unique code gives you 100% off our 15-hour monthly plan, so you won’t pay twice (billing info is only requested to create your account).” I followed the link and proceeded with the signup, confident that it was completely free — especially since I entered the discount code provided by Jumpspeak and the total amount displayed was $0. However, I was still required to enter my credit card information to complete the registration. To my surprise, on October 18, I was charged $399 in the middle of the night without any prior notice. As soon as I noticed, I immediately emailed Customer Service requesting to cancel all my subscriptions and to clarify what had happened. I received what seemed to be an automated response, containing only a cancellation link, with no mention of the “100-Day Risk-Free Trial” policy. I was confused, as the charge came from Jumpspeak and not Rype. Since then, I have repeatedly tried to contact both Jumpspeak and Rype to request an explanation and a refund for these unauthorized charges, but I have received no response so far. To make matters worse, on October 24, I was charged again, this time for another Jumpspeak service totaling $149. I kindly request a detailed explanation and a full refund for all these unauthorized charges made to my credit card without any prior notice or consent. In total, I was charged $617: 10/10 – $69 10/18 – $399 10/24 – $149 Thank you for your prompt attention to this matter. Sincerely,
Charlie

I have scheduled a first lesson with a teacher online, he did not show up, I reported the situation and did not get any explanation. I rescheduled another time, with another teacher, 2 days later, and the same situation happenned again: NO SHOW from the teacher, no contact, no explanation... I make time in my schedule for those lessons, with all my good will, and you make me/us wait and loose my/our time. We can't even try the service you offer. How serious is that ?? Well, maybe the service doesn't even exist and that is a huge scam !!! Very disappointed. And of course they charge you almost 300€ before you have time to try or cancel the service. STAY AWAY. I will report it to the consumer association and the BEUC.

Rype is affiliated with JumpSpeak.com. Rype is the part of the company that administrates the life subscriptions and I was able to contact the support and even did get an answer within 24 hours. The person was helpful in putting my refund request through to the jumpspeak customer support, who was no responsive at all, who then refunded me. Thanks for that.

There are errors in their app but worse than that: Don't give them your payment info or you may receive fraudulent charges! And don't count on Paypal to back you up!

Do not use this app/company. I got given a free trial as a part of a subscription to a sister company. I never activated this free trial but then got £230 debited from my account for no reason. When I asked for a refund I was told they wouldn't give me this, despite the fact the joining email made it clear I needed to activate my account before anything happened. I eventually had to get my bank to refund me after which I got a nonsensical email from Rype trying to claim the refund was because of a change in their policy rather than because my bank literally took the money back. Dishonest company, avoid like the plague.
