Tried to book someone to sit my dog, even though they showed availability for the dates online they were not available when contacted this happened a few times so i gave up, no point stating dates are free and that you do in home dog sitting if you do not want to gave up on app

recently signed up for Rover and had a mixed experience. It took a couple of tries to find someone available to walk my dogs, but I eventually connected with a walker who seemed confident and capable when we met. Unfortunately, the service didn’t go as expected. On the first scheduled day, she canceled last minute due to a migraine. While I understand things happen, it was short notice. The following day, she arrived for a scheduled 30-minute walk but only walked my dogs for about 13 minutes. This was disappointing, as I expected the full service I paid for. I’ve also had difficulty getting in touch with Rover regarding a partial refund or adjustment. Overall, I think the platform has potential, but consistency, accountability, and customer support need improvement.

I have met some wonderful dogs and wonderful owners through rover.com, and for that I am very appreciative. However, I am not appreciative of rover.com's dismal website. It is beyond user unfriendly it is simply wrong and technologically defective. It's very frustrating because when you call rover.com for support they just offer platitudes and tell you that they have these known issues with calendar availability and other issues and they're working on them however that's been five weeks now and nothing has changed. Very very disappointing platform.

I’ve only had 2 experiences on Rover. The first experience resulted in my dog getting staphylococcal infection from a sitter, and the last experience resulted in my sitter being greedy, unprofessional, and leaving my house a complete mess. I only need 2 times to figure out if something works, and this company is not a fit for our family. Too unsafe, and I don’t end my sessions happy. Thankfully, Rover has paved the way for other companies to learn from them. I hope Rover gets better in the future, but I’ll never book with Rover again.

Rover didn’t seem to care much about the bad experience we had. It was my first and last time using them. The dog sitter was awful and to top it off she left our garage door open when she left. I was not impressed with Rover at all.

Your business does not provide the best experience for the ones who pay! I have had numerous sitters cancel on me last minute because they find jobs and decide not to dog sit, not because they don’t want to dog sit for me but because they just took the job to get money. They should be liable for the cost of canceling too early because that causes problems for the people who needed the sitter in the first place and to find. Replacement last minute. I have not been able to complain about these sitters because rover does not have a good customer service side experience for the customer to communicate these issues.

While the sitters we have had have been great, it does not seem worthwhile for this company to take 20% of the sitter’s earnings and then charge an additional 7-8% fee to the customer. Nothing provided by them warrants this and makes them appear to be just another greedy business.

This is a review for Rover. Some Rover sitters are reliable, some flake out. It’s hard to tell what will happen and there seems to be little consequence to Rover. One sitter thought it was fine to be gone many hours beyond agreed time to leave dog alone. This results in a spoiled vacation spent finding coverage or worrying about a dog. If you can find someone trustworthy outside or within the system stick with that person.
