Terrible Experience
I used Rover about 7 years ago with my previous dog (who has since passed away), and more recently I trusted this app again to leave my new puppy, Eden, with another sitter for 2 weeks while I traveled. When I came back to pick her up, I was shocked. My one-year-old, who had always been a playful troublemaker, was barely moving, only sleeping, and something was clearly wrong. The bed I had sent with her reeked of cigarette smoke so badly that the smell spread into my car when I brought it back. This was after being assured that smoking would not be an issue. Even worse, the carefully packed food I provided for her meals was untouched—3 full days’ worth of food were left over. How was she even being fed properly? Her harness was returned broken, with the buckles damaged to the point of being unusable, and I can’t imagine how they were taking her on walks at all. Toys I sent with her were missing, and not everything was returned. My dog came back smelling like smoke, exhausted, and with damaged belongings. Honestly, I don’t even know what else she might have been exposed to. At this point, I can no longer trust this sitter. Pet owners deserve honesty, transparency, and accountability when entrusting someone with their pets.
