Our puppy got sick while at a Rover sitter. Rover did not have our back whatsoever and used any loop hole they could find to get out of helping with the financial responsibility. They do not care if your dog gets sick nor did they hold any accountability for the sitter who was responsible for our puppy’s well being. The sitter is actively still on their site watching dogs despite what he did to ours. Absolutely awful service and awful experience.

Rover not taking my end of the story.
A little over a year ago, I had to do some drop in visits for a family, The dog cookie had a accident upstairs. I never stepped foot upstairs and I’m being blamed for the incident… even a year later. Now Rover came to me saying I had two accounts, but I don’t. I’ve only have one now. Why wouldn’t they just delete the old account AFTER A YEAR OF INACTIVITY AND reactivate my current account because I am trusted dog sitter and Walker. Now for them to ask me my side of the story and still have my account deactivated is 100% not OK.
I will never be recommending Rover or using it again. Rover lost all my respect, and I will be only talking about how terrible this whole experience has been.

0/10 for talking to me about some fur baby that took a poop in someone’s home over a year ago.

They do no care about your animals
They do no care about your animals. They don't vent the people who watch over your animal. They allow illegal aliens as care takers. There is no accountability if your pet dies because the care taker did not properly care for your pet while in their care.

AWFUL EXPERIENCE
AWFUL EXPERIENCE
I don’t usually resort to bearing my grievances on social media but in this case I can’t walk away.
We had used this sitter once before and everything was OK. This time, we booked our dog in for a weeks stay whilst we went abroad on holiday. Weeks before I checked in with the sitter and all was OK. The DAY BEFORE we were due to fly I realised I had lost their address so contacted them at around midday and continually during the afternoon. By 7pm I had still not heard back so after emailing, texting and leaving voice messages I contacted the Rover emergency line, again, by texts and leaving a voice message. By 8:30pm nobody had got back to me and we were due to fly at 3:30pm the next day.
Completely stressed, crying and in a panic, I cancelled the booking on Rover so I wouldn’t get charged for the whole week and wanted to have the courtesy of letting the sitter know we wouldn’t be turning up.
On sending an email to Rover support, I have received no answers as to what happened. All they repeat is that they cannot tell me the details due to their privacy policy. They have said sorry and will refund any monies taken (initially they were going to charge me £105 for a late cancelation charge!) but that is not the point.
This whole fiasco ruined the holiday, I spent most of the time angry and crying so be warned, don’t think you’re safe with your booking and Rover will look after you because they won’t.
After receiving reply: You are not listening are you? Your emergency help line is useless, nobody came back to me with any help. No answers. Empty apologies.

Worst case scenario
Worst case scenario. Came home to my dog locked in a crate filled with piss and dog feces all over my house. Don’t think the sitter ever came to my house twice out of five days . Rover doesn’t care what I say. States if it isn’t on video he took care of my dog as contracted to. Furniture in the house ruined. My dog terrified. Stated he would get water to my chickens. They didn’t have a drop of water. Rover will hire Anyone. Where do the reviews come from? Do not use rover. Do not waste a minute of time researching. Rover is a horrible company. Who takes no accountable for their sitters. Sitters damage to pets. Damage to the house. I have never had a worse experience trying to talk to incompetent customer service agents.
Rover takes no accountability for their staff. All a sudden they have no way to reach the person. No way to reimburse me for any of the damages. This is a complete hoax. They care about what. Their pocket. They do not care about customers. They do not care if damage is done. They do not care that their staff is incompetent. It is all a lie and a facade. Don’t do business with these people or come home like I did to all 3 of my exterior doors wide open and unlocked. Piss smelling house. Piles of poop on or floor. These is absurd that this company can still operate under these false pretenses

Pet Sitter on Rover - DO NOT USE
Over the past 18 months, I have worked as a pet sitter through Rover. Unfortunately, my experience has led me to conclude that the company does not provide adequate support for pet sitters. I have encountered numerous instances where support was lacking, which has been disappointing. In my view, Rover appears to prioritise its role as a revenue-generating platform, sometimes at the expense of the well-being of both pet sitters and pet owners. Owned by the US’ biggest asset management company.
The current process does not reflect the level of due-diligence expected, and trained animal professionals may find the platform’s terms and conditions overly restrictive. This will result in experienced sitters leaving the platform, while less experienced individuals are favoured.
Despite multiple requests for support, I have found customer services to be largely unresponsive. Additionally, Rover’s policies and the Rover Guarantee seem primarily designed to protect pet owners, with less emphasis on safeguarding pet sitters.
A more balanced approach would better recognise the unpredictable nature of working with animals and provide appropriate protections for both Pet Sitter and Pet Owner.
In my opinion, as someone who owns dogs, has used the Rover platform as a Pet Sitter and Pet Owner I would NOT recommend. Please go back to using independent , insured pet sitters who will provide a greater peace of mind for attention to detail and protection.
Additionally, to reply to Rover's comment below...I have wasted hours of my time talking to Rover's support teams, including the Trust & Safety Team who offer no help or solutions.

I would NOT recommend Rover !
I would NOT recommend Rover !! They do no screening, you are literally letting strange people with no background check in your house. I had a young girls come to our house and I thought things were fine so I used her a second time. She wanted to bring her lesbian girlfriend over to sleep with her! I told her no we do not approve and she went ballistic, called me a homophobic and sent me a dozen mentally unwell texts. Then I realized (which I had not) they take pictures of your house and post them all over publicly! In one she had my dog locked in a room we do not lock our animal up in rooms. She did love cats and took a dozen selfies with my cats. The most disturbing part is we had crosses in bedrooms and she placed them down - meaning they were sitting upright and she layed them flat so she didn’t have to look at them. This is where demons go to find jobs I guess. Why don’t they stay away from innocent animals ?? I filed a complaint with Rover and they did nothing.
