The fees are high and they charge both clients and providers. Otherwise seems to work okay.

There is no way to contact Rover when the dog-sitter cancels & he or she doesn’t take care of the refund from their end. We still have not received a refund from the person who cancelled less than 12 hours before we were supposed to drop our dog off. (Over a week ago). The help center says only call for emergencies.

Everything went smooth as I chose a pet sitter and we met to discuss the job. She seemed nice and sounded dependable. When it is as a week before I was to leave town, I started trying to reach her so I could give her the key to my house. She never responded so I contacted Rover. They found her and she called me saying she had a traumatic experience earlier in the week so was not looking at messages on her phone but she did come get the key. I left the next morning for a 2 week trip. At first, she cared for my cats every night. I know she came to my house and how long she stayed because I have a security system that records this information. After a few nights, she didn’t show up at all. I was worried but I had put a large emergency bowl of food and water on the floor in the kitchen just in case anything went wrong. She did not show up again the next night so I tried to contact her. She did m me it respond so I contacted Rover where I was told that I had 2 options. I could either cancel the rest of her services or just let them try to find her again. I was out of state and my cats had to be fed so I told them to try to find her. They found her and she sent me a message saying she had a family emergency but would feed my cats for the rest of the 2 weeks. She started coming every night again for a few days but then did not show up another night. I sent her a message around midnight asking if she would please feed my cats. My alarm showed that she entered my house, stayed 2 minutes then left. This was after midnight. She did come to my house a few more times but one of the times it was 1:00 am when she showed up and stayed 5 minutes. When I returned home my cats had no food and only enough water to barely cover the bottom of one dish. Even my emergency bowls were empty. The litter was so dirty that the cats had started using the restroom on the floor beside the litter boxes. Rover did find her a few times for me but other than that they were no help. They never offered to get someone else to feed my cats or somehow make sure my cats didn’t starve to death while I was gone for 2 weeks. I would not recommend Rover to anyone.

The recent introduction of star sitter is a fantastic idea apart from this one rule: You have a new pet owner booking rate of 33% or higher (at least one in three) over your most recent 25 requests. I am a sitter who takes great care to match dogs and to reduce any risks of accidents and harm. This means I often turn down dogs which are perfect but are not ideal to the current mix. I explain this carefully so each owner is aware of this. I take dogs with separation anxiety but only when the circumstances are right. This means that I often refer to other pet sitters who are more suitable. If I want to achieve the expected 33% my current model of working will be compromised. I can not make decision until I meet the dog. This one rule is absolutely not in the best interest of animals. It will increase sales but not wellbeing of dogs. I would strongly recommend reviewing this rule or lowering the percentage to 15%. This should not be a cookie cutter rule. It's better to assess and match with the suitable sitter than feel pressured to accept dogs that are not good match due to their needs.

Everything else was great except the sitter was still able to change the pricing after we confirmed our booking and everything. Basically she accepted the days my dog was staying and I placed the booking and confirmed everythinf but the next day she was still able to request an increase from the APP on the daily charge after everything was put in place.

Haven't seen any phone number to call rover support.regarding compensation if my animal got sick on their stay at a sitter.

Pet sitters are great; Rover is not: website difficult to use; no telephone number provided.

It was ok. We did not get daily updates. We left our 5 month old puppy and we were hoping to get the daily updates. Also, our puppy pee on the bed and they just let him sleep on it like that. He smelled so bad when we picked him up. He was also super dirty. I did provide wipes and told her that the bed was machine washable. The crate was cover in another dog's hair and they just gave to us like that. When we drop our pup off, everything was clean and should have been returned the same way. For the amount of money paid, I feel that it should be a minimal thing to do.
