I have gotten lucky on Rover and there are some great sitters. The prices can be expensive and then they have you tip which can increase the price .

I like that you can find genuine pet lovers who charge affordably bec they understand the need to have help sometimes. However, many are charging crazy rates now and the reason they cite is bec Rover takes a big cut from them. So I was wondering if Rover can scale back on the cut to help more pet owners who need pet sitting.

I've been using Rover for years and it has been so helpful for finding people to help me walk my dog when I am working or watch them him I am traveling. It's great because it's more affordable than most kennels and more personalized. Most of the walkers and sitters on there are great. However, you will find an occasional flake, so I would recommend trying a bunch of walkers to see who matches your needs best before trusting them to sit your dog. If you are requiring someone to petsit at your home, I would check their references to make sure they will actually do it. I was burned on that. Other sitters were great though. The platform itself is great and it is nice to have the reviews and insurance coverage for peace of mind.

This company is a great resource for pet parents and pet care givers. I would recommend a little more flexibility in the fee structure and the ability to modify reservations without a huge fee. I was charged $25 to modify my reservation that's a bit excessive. Overall I have had a good experience with the exception of the above

We love the sitters we’ve found on Rover! We’ve used it for 3 years now. Every one has been responsive, professional and respectful. The app makes it very easy to use and to find sitters. Rover has thought of everything. One caveat is that for low needs pets like cats, an extra cat fee really skyrockets the affordability of a simple, no medicine, no litter-clean visit for 2 cats. Sometimes it’s too much and we’ve had to find sitters off app. We wish this was not the case. But otherwise, it’s been the best experience and phenomenal cat sitters. - Exceptional respect for our space and care for our animals. Happy to recommend this app. Edit- Rover, go easy there on your reply. Lol it’s not affordable to pay, at times, from $50 for two drop ins… to $80 per day for 2 15 minute drop ins because there’s a $15 extra cat fee. Reconcilable if there’s a ton more work and responsibility but not in my case.

It is great to have wonderful people come and care for your pets while you are at work!! The only downside is the price. $50 for a 30 minute walk is a bit pricey in my experience with hiring dog walkers. The person who came and took care of our pup is absolutely worth it, but who can afford that on a daily basis? And we tip. That is my only gripe with this company.
