I contracted with dog sitter for a rate of $79 per day but, due to a cancellation of my appointment I had to cancel and reschedule. Upon setting a new time and date, the price increased to $100, which I felt was a bait and switch tactic. I paid the two day fee of $200.

This was our first time using the Rover pet sitting service. We have two senior cats and was looking for someone to watch over them during our two week vacation. We opted to have our cats stay at the sitter's home to lessen the burden to have the sitter come by our home. Living in a rural community was a better fit for us, the cats, and the sitter. An unfortunate incident occurred at the sitter's moments before we picked up the cats. One of the cats suffered a severely broken right humerus when the sitter rounded up the cats to place them in their respective cat carriers. After we consulted with 4 different vet doctors, we found one who could perform the surgery and save her leg with a plate and pins. This process took a week while my cat was under heavy sedation to manage her pain while we were planning her medical care. My cat underwent surgery yesterday 10/25/2023. She is still in ICU and they may release her tomorrow once they they feel her pain can be managed once she is home. Rover has been understanding and concerned with our cat's well being. I feel the sitter should have been vetted more carefully for all members of the household when sitting for someone's pet. Unfortunately my husband and I may not use this service in the future. I do feel Rover is a good service for those with pets, but the trauma my cat experienced is something I wouldn't wish on any pet, or pet parent.

The site is not user friendly. It adds unexpected charges, not applied by the provider. If I drop off on Wednesday evening and pickup Friday..that’s two days. ( $80). If I drop off Saturday and pick up on Monday…that’s two days ($145). So, why is a $40 overnight fee added on the weekend and not the weekday??? Be consistent!!

Credit card companies are under fire for taking 3.5%. Rover takes over 3 times that. It is by far too much

I had Amy as a dog Walker from Oct 14, 2023 to today 10/21/23 when she let me know she quit. She has left me in a real pickle. For the most part, Amy was good with my dog, Ben, and was always on time. The only problem was that she brought her 8 year old daughter with her every time she came. The only time she did not bring her daughter was today. She claims Ben bit her twice because while walking him he was confronted by 1 dog coming at them from one direction and another dog coming at them from the other direction. This is when Ben supposedly bit her. She had been told that Ben is distracted by both squirrels and other dogs. When she brought Ben home, my friend greeted her, she removed Ben’s harness and Ben came to me. I said good by and she left. She never mentioned to me or my friend the incident with the other dogs or the fact that Ben bit her. About 20mins later we received a message from Amy that she would not be back. That is it. This was the first mention of a problem with Ben. Ben is quiet, lovable and has never bitten anyone that I know of. She has left me high and dry. I am stunned by the lack of care for the customer. I am 82 and have spinal stenosis. I walk Ben on my own, but he needs someone to walk him so he gets exercise. Thus I contacted your agency and highered Amy. I still need a dog Walker. Can I still get someone from your agency?

Love the ease in finding sitters around me! Dislike that Rover doesn't show total booking fees before contacting sitters. Additionally, the 11% fee charged to customers when booking is hidden until the end which is deceiving. Overall though, Rover is a great service for finding care and providing updates during stays. Update- after the response from Rover below, I feel they missed the point here. Pet parents should be able to see all fees and total cost PRIOR to requesting the stay (except maybe tax). This would cut down on ghost requests for us sitters and would provide much greater transparency for those booking stays for their dogs.

I explained in detail that my puppy has accidents, and proper cleaning techniques to avoid soiling the carpets. I returned home to find my room reeking of urine, there were dirty puppy pads and pee soaked clothes on the floor. my puppy also had torn up some clothing and other items, none of which she told me about. serious lack of effort and communication.

Great service for sure but the fees are a bit too high in those hard times. Whilst services like Rover are very important for pets and their owners, the fees may deter people from doing the right thing thus leaving their pets potentially at risk.
