I have been a loyal customer/cat sitter for nearly a decade and have 43 five star reviews. The website was great. However the move to Rover has obliterated that. Not only was communication pre, during and post migration nearly non existent (we received an email saying there was going to be a switch and that we would receive an email with instructions how to switch and activate our accounts - which we never received) Most things I’ve had to figure out myself such as reactivating bank details, and etc, automatic increasing of rates, even the character limit on my title has changed. The app is clunky and unclear. Not only that but I’ve not been paid for my last 3 jobs that were booked before the merge. These jobs ended 8-14 days ago. I will be leaving as soon as I get paid. Luckily I have clients who book me privately and I’ll be encouraging the rest of mine to do so if they feel comfortable in doing so. Edit - I can’t figure out how/if I can reply to Lexi, as I am old. Well they’ve not been paid out. You owe me £510! And immediate response…lols. I emailed support@catinaflat, support@rover and paymentsupport@catinaflat on Monday and Tuesday and all I received is an automated message saying that you are seeing a high number of requests due to your sh*tshow of a transition (I’m paraphrasing) so your replies will take a little longer than usual. Edited again - I called the number given to Freya 08082812524 as I’m also in the UK and it doesn’t actually ring, it’s gives you a bunch of different options - if in immediate danger hang up and ring the emergencies services, if you have a safety issue leave a message or if you have a question hang up and contact us online… it runs through these twice and then hangs up. What a joke.

Sitter we booked ditched us midway during the booking, mentally tortured the puppy, made all kind of reasons and issues with the puppy and also verbally/racially abused us and threatened to take our puppy back in less than 2 hours. We had to scramble to find different dog place on our own for the safety of our puppy. It took more than than 2 days for the puppy to come out of the traumatic experience she face with the sitter. Rover didn’t helped us at all during the experience and didn’t ensured safety/well being for our puppy even though they advertised 24/7 guarantee for everything so very very bad experience and probably never Rover again.

I give them 0 star because the serivce they provide me was extremely poor. Their pet sitter was useless and unprofessional. He used to charge daily but would shown up for a second,just to send his location to app and leave. While he supposed to be there, my cat got lost and he did nothing.and the rover did nothing after the complains just automatic responce.I was out of country and he didn't even make any effort to search for her in the area. Even after my repeated requests,he did nothing.their pet sitter have no feeling for pets they are doing all this for the sake of money and the rover is also same , greedy about the money.

I’m replying to rover’s automated response to me as again, it takes over an hour to reach someone who can speak English. I relayed my experience with an unhinged sitter who completely lied 100% about where she lives. Sitter had on her profile that she lived in a house with fenced yard. Sitter actually lived in a studio apt where she left my dog alone. She then complained that my dog was pacing back and forth. She was completely unhinged and a complete liar. My question for rover, while rover says it does background checks, simply did not know this girl lived in a studio apt and not a house with a fenced yard. Does roves check addresses? Anything, mental health conditions? Rover does absolutely NOTHING to check sitters. I have a vet bill that your “checked” sitter did to my dog, absolutely not a big deal but was a cut a wanted checked out since sitter was so dirty. Rover owes me $109 which they refuse to pay. That does not include vet visit. I haven’t checked but I imagine this bizarre girl is still on rover. Go elsewhere please. There are people who actually care about animals. This is a convenient website featuring people rover knows nothing about. PLEASE DO NOT USE ROVER.

We had a terrible experience with Rover and a sitter. The sitter called said they would be late, we said that would be fine. two days later the sitter contacted us saying we didn't pay him we replied that Rover took the funds. The sitter than threatened us saying he was coming with the police to collect his money etc. etc. We contacted Rover who said the the sitter had refused the funds not our fault. We had Rover put on another visit so the sitter could get paid he told a bunch of lies saying we had cameras in the house (we did not but now I am wondering how my dogs were treated) Put in a formal complaint and was told that we needed to read the Rover Community Guidelines and made us feel that this was our fault. Rover of course denied any and all liability with the claim and blamed us. Just remember these people are strangers not even employees of Rover and Rover just collects money for the service, if anything goes wrong they will not care and blame you. Furthermore though they say they do background checks I doubt it's very thorough as I found all kinds of court records for this individual after the fact.

I used to cat sit through Cat in a flat but cat sitters have been completely screwed over by the merge with Rover. No notice board and it shows sitters miles away, because the algorithm favours only the most established Rover sitters instead of locals. Cat in a flat has been has been ruined and Rover does nothing for us.

Rover does not a customer service number where you can log your complaints. I could not give my Dog sitter a tip or review because the system would not allow it. It says you can give a review within 21 days of service and I was within 21 days but system gave an error that something went wrong over and over and over again. So I give Rover one Star.

Rover has recently merged with Cat in a flat, a cat-specific sitting service. My clients are now being charged double what they were on CiAF for twice-a-day services. The company is not taking sitter's reviews and feedback into account and has completely isolated the cat-sitting market by trying to assimilate the needs of cats within the dog-specific services it offers. An example of this is offering grooming/bathing services for cats. There are additional hidden fees for customers that are not reflected in the pay provided to the sitters - overall, just very disappointing to be a cat sitter on the Rover app. I highly recommend searching for private cat sitters, rather than sourcing through this app.
