Rover worked to find sitter
Rover was helpful to find a house sitter. Many options available. App worked well. Owners should be made aware that sitters will EXPECT a tip above their hourly rate for basic pet care... and the review of sitter function should be SEPARATE from the tip. If sitters expect a 20% tip, they should update their hourly rates. Expecting a large tip for a dog that needs no walk and to pick up a poop/pee mess seems a bit too much.

No way to filter only Canadian dog…
No way to filter only Canadian dog walkers. Too many expectations before contact with the actual person, such as needing to fill in an actual date and time for service when you just want to ask questions of them. No way to just ‘favourite’ a person. App is too controlling. Then, because you had to fill in bogus info just to speak to the walker the app wants to know why you didn’t book. I was in the process of vetting six people at once and needed to explain that I would be away for two weeks, dog schedule etc. But no, please put in a time and day etc. I DONT HAVE A TIME SPECIFICALLY YET! So then I would have to tell the walker please ignore the dates they made me fill in and we can discuss the schedule once we see if it’s a good fit. App is just too controlling. And many of the walkers do not update their availability calendars. Found one great girl named Julie. But also had one whose availability didn’t line up, one who missed the meeting altogether and one who completely ghosted me. Hasn’t been a great experience so far.

Not a fan
I did not like that Rover relied on the customer to resolve issues. That is uncomfortable to many. I reached out about a problem, asked for a partial refund and they said to contact the dog sitter. At that point I did not feel comfortable speaking to the sitter and just dropped the issue and ended up paying full for a service that was not provided. Had Rover helped and addressed it, I would have felt better about the company.

Not impressed
The person was late 30 minutes. She didn't stay the entire time and she pushed My puppy. She didn't seem like she liked dogs.

Can’t communicate with sitter until after you book
Don’t like the idea of being unable to communicate via phone with possible sitter until after you book. Had a couple questions prior to booking that going through website was a pain, could have spoken directly with sitter and in a matter of a couple minutes questions would have been answered. Site too controlling and afraid of missing out on their fee.

You can also always arrange a meet and greet to get to know your potential Sitter better and see where your pet will be staying.

Average site/UI
Rover's site is a bit hard to navigate and also makes it difficult to correspond with prospective sitters initially. My experience with the sitter was great, no issues there.

Great dog walker but extortionate hidden fees
I used Rover for my first time this week. My dog walker was amazing and would use her again but I find that the app dosnt tell you that they charge an extortionate price Ontop of the dog walk. For instance my dog walker cost £13 an hour, my dog walked for 2hrs =£26 I ended up paying = £43.70 in total = thats £17.70 of hidden Extra cost you don't find out about until you have already initiated conversation with your dog walker. I think the app Is great but I think there hidden extra costs are ridiculous.
