Nothing to say about the dogsitter. He is great! I really don't like the 15% of fee that Rover keeps on every order.

First experience with Rover
This was my first experience with using Rover. Picked the person based on reviews. Met her on 9/14/22, showed where the cats are feed and littler boxes (in the basement). Also asked that the litter be bagged and disposed of in the garbage can in the driveway. Also left her instructions that please leave three bowls out with dry cat food as well as feed them each a bowl of wet food. She was to come every other day starting with 8/27/22 (8/27, 8/29, 9/2). First day she did not advise me and when I sent her message on 8/28, she stated that there was an issue with Rover and that's why she didn't send anything but she was going to go over to check on cats. Send pictures and very general information such as one pee, one poop.
I sent her a message on 9/1/22 advising that she didn't need to come the next day as we would be on 9/1. When I go home, found two bowls with dry food left on the counter and three bowls that had wet food in the kitchen where the dogs are normally fed (I did not want them fed upstairs). So now with the dry food, I'm assuming they didn't have anything for two days. Then checking the litter boxes, they were full! Also there was a large garbage bag full of litter left open in the can. Does not appear that anything was disposed of as I had asked. Another issue was that It took me until Sunday to get my house key back. Tried several times through messages and even offered to meet her somewhere. Finally came Sunday noon and gave me the key, did not even ask how everything was. I was so UPSET and DISAPPOINTED!!!!!

Bait and switch?
I found the communication skills of Rover poor and perhaps manipulative to their advantage. I requested one sitter whose calendar showed availability and she was surprised Rover hadn’t updated her info since she hasn’t been available for quite a while. Then Rover must’ve sent the request to another sitter without my consent because I received a message from another sitter, replying to a request that I didn’t send to her. That sitter cost more than twice the sitter I requested. This made the whole experience frustrating and time consuming.

Our dogs were not exercised as much as…
Our dogs were not exercised as much as we expected and we were therefore left with a huge amount of dog foul in our garden. We expected our dogs to get 2 walks per day and that did not happen.
Our cats litter tray was absolutely filthy when we returned and looked as if it hadn't been cleaned out for at least 2 days.
Extremely disappointed

Systemic Dishonesty Among Rover Sitters at the Expense of Your Pet
From the beginning, the sitter set time-frames beginning at 6 AM on the 1st day ending 10 PM on the last day "to give me flexibility", then wanted to meet up to get the key in advance "so I don't need to wait for her", thus had no intention to work the hours I was paying for.
Left all lights on 24/7.
Said she would come to the overnight job alone but had a visitor nightly.
Yesterday I asked her if she could please bring out 2 garbage bins. She confirmed that she had, that she was now going out and the cat was in. (She was planning to come back late and the cat must be in before dark due to predators. I also do not leave him out when I am not home.)
A friend of mine had an errand to do around the corner so I asked him to check if she managed with the heavier garbage bin. He said it wasn't out. I asked him to please put it out. When he entered with the key, he found nobody home, all lights on, back door open, cat out.
I wrote her and instead of saying she forgot to close the back door, she started to tell stories, for ex. she needed to meet her partner (10 minutes driving away) thus didn't lock up yet! so that he would know where to pick her up, then she was planning to come back and lock up. We'll, he visited her every night so he knows exactly where to pick her up! No explanation on how the cat was supposed to come back.
When I confronted her, she wanted to cancel the booking immediately in the middle of it because I was unsatisfied. I didn't have another sitter and am away with little phone reception and told her she needs to finish the job.
The Rover sitters are used to saying yes to your requirements and then do whatever they want at the expense of your animal's well-being. From the offset, if you are aware of the circumstances of your sitter (other jobs, personal pets, partner), it is impossible that they do your job as required. Instead of them saying their limits for you to decide, they say, sure! A shortage of sitters in my area means needing to play the game to have some degree of care for exaggerated prices. They usually lock up and leave the cat in but are there much less than agreed upon, leaving an anxious animal alone. Many don't manage the medication or think it's necessary.
Came home to finding gauges in multiple places on my floor. Now have to go after Rover. This sitter was simply absent minded--lights on 24/7, doors unlocked, bringing the boyfriend, and no owning up to mistakes.
Rover has strict payment policies if an owner cancels but don't seem to have a standard of care with these issues. It's really difficult to be away needing to deal with all this stuff. Hard to have a hard earned vacation where one saved for the few days off and the sitter, hard to go deal with family business when one has to constantly make sure that the Rover sitters are doing what they are supposed to so your baby will be ok!
This marks the beginning of me putting pressure on Rover to deal with these issues. I will be forced to put them online as well in the interest of my pet's well-being and the well-being of others.
I myself petsit. I have NO issue with any cameras. I spend at least the amount of time booked at the places of work, sometimes 2-3 times what I am paid for. I do more than what is paid for because I care about the pets!
Because it's pets that can't talk, many sitters do things they would never dare do in another place of work, for ex. come to half a shift or come sign in and leave! I check reviews on the sitters. If they are verified stays, the sitters are playing the game well and the owner isn't looking out. The reviews are impossible to believe. These issues are regular.

Why does Rover charge me in advance of…
Why does Rover charge me in advance of any services being delivered? I just booked all of my dog visit appointments for the month of Sept with my sitter (who I am very happy with). The full amount for the entire month was immediately debited from my account, even though the first appointment is not for almost 2 weeks. I pay a babysitter when I come home, not when I make the appointment. Same with a appliance repairman, an Uber ride, and a restaurant. Why is Rover taking my money first?
I would have raised this question with Rover directly, but there is no way to reach a live person at Rover (not a sitter) via phone, chat or email. Clearly, their attitude is "We have your money, don't call us, good luck."

Hi Brian, our team received your feedback and we’re sorry about any difficulties. Feedback from users like you is an important part of maintaining a quality experience and we appreciate you taking the time to share this insight. Much like Uber and other apps we hold a charge as soon as any service is booked. However, it sounds like the issue may be that the booking was done as drop in visits or walk, when it could have been booked as a recurring charge. Stays of this type bill weekly as apposed to a lump sum, and may meet your needs better. To change the booking type, please reach out to your sitter to correct the issue or feel free to give our 24/7 Rover Support team a call at 888-453-7889 and we’d be happy to help.

The two Rover modalities don't reflect each other 100% of the time.
I think the interface is confusing and doesn't reflect the app. I think you should be able to sort by all of the same things in both places, and I was finding that you could search by "sitter is in home full-time" on the app, but not on Rover.com. It's also unwieldy to have SO many messages pop up all the time whenever you are sending/receiving things. I don't need a message telling me I sent an email - I did it so I know.

Werkt slecht
Werkt slecht. Een dame vind het te ver terwijl postcode in was gevuld. 1 dame zou me 2 dagen later laten weten of ze kon. Niks meer gehoord. Soms helemaal geen reactie
