The Bad and the Good
As a sitter for Rover.com, what I DISLIKE is that my clients get charged an 11% service fee and have to pay the full amount up front, even when booking months in advance! I also get dinged a 20% fee at the back end and can wait up to three weeks after I work to get paid. They also do some kind of questionable thing with my phone number, which copies my text messages into their website when I am communicating with my clients. I am still looking into the legality of this. ALSO, there is absolutely NO WAY for us to know if a client was flagged for ANY reason as someone we should avoid. NOTHING is done to protect the safety of the sitter and for me, being a house and pet sitter, this is of great concern! What I DO LIKE about Rover.com is the assurance my clients get that I have had a thorough background check. This ensures I am who I say I am. The rest is up to me to prove their home and pet(s) will be well taken care of. :) For those clients who do take the time to write us an honest review, a VERY BIG THANK YOU!
