Poor experience
Poor experience. Needed someone to look after dog while on holiday. They cancelled my booking 1 week before the holiday. Now under great pressure finish a job i thought was sorted in good time.

Still a Scam, but Less
When I was ill had to cancel my plans, the Rover support team concluded that my doctor said I was only too sick to work, not travel and, thus, didn't qualify for a refund. However, after much back and forth in which their communication skills were very low quality, it became clear that the majority of the money they kept went to the sitter with only a convivence fee going to them. I still think it's a shame that companies like Rover are making it harder for independent sitters to operate their small businesses independently, but as long as the majority of the money goes to them, it's not as much as a scam as I thought.

Go with a friend, not Rover, if you can help it.
I will say that I have used Rover multiple times. Rover is only a listing platform. They don't have much of a vetting process for who is able to list on there. I have a dog with mobility issues and it is incredibly hard to find any sitters on there with actual pet handling experience. Even those listed as having a background in senior dogs or whatever else you're looking for turn out to be people who just pet sit for fun or as a side hustle. I'll also echo the comment on here that they do not list negative reviews for their sitters. So use at your own risk and know you may not have all of the necessary information when booking with someone.

The Rover computer system stinks!!!
The Rover computer system stinks! I wanted to review my dog sitters & I can't! The review can only be made if you leave a tip!!! They should be separate!!! One shouldn't be dependent on the other!!!

On the whole a good service
I dislike the website. Very difficult to get answers to what you want to modify bookings etc. Walkers excellent trustworthy reliable. Fairly expensive

Advance payment
The whole experience is great. The only thing I didn't like is getting charged before competing the scheduled pet sitting.

Hi Eric, we appreciate your feedback. Your card will be charged when you book a service, similar to reserving a hotel or flight. Booking the service reserves your spot with the sitter. I have no issues with my pet sitter she…
I have no issues with my pet sitter she was great and amazing and I would book her again completely. I do not like the rover app not allowing me to tip from my wallet balance that is onto my account. Why am I not allowed to send a tip to my sitter if there is a credit balance on my account? It makes no sense and I do not like that I have to add another credit card to do so.

It was OK
It was OK, but I didn’t fully trust my house sitter because I could tell from my house cameras that she wasn’t there as much as she said she would be and she missed one night of the housesit at altogether leaving our cat all alone. Moreover, it was difficult to write a review for her with any anonymity on the Rover site which I didn’t appreciate and the structure of the Rover review kind of pushed you to supply answers whether or not you wanted to. I think this slants the reviews to a positive leaning, even if you’re not feeling completely positive
