I like that Rover is there to connect me to potential sitters but the fees are ridiculous. i have to pay a fee and my sitter says Rover takes up to 25% of their fee.

Well I didn't understand that I couldn't cancel my appointment for health reasons of the person I was going to see within 24 hours and not get a full refund so it was very disappointing Rover did point out that it is on each of the caregivers little page however I never found that and I think it should be more relevant so just be careful but every time I have used Rover for other sitters I've always had a good sitter and this lady actually sounded wonderful I just had to cancel my plans that's the only reason

Wasn’t thrilled with the sitter, she got the job done but my cats didn’t get the attention promised. The little video rover sent was a joke. Of all the photos of the cats the sitter took, my reel consisted of 2 barfs and a package!

As a sitter for almost a year I can tell you that Rover takes 20% of whatever you make. They are supposed to pay you the remaining of your earnings within 48 hours. A lot of the time you won’t see that money for a week or so. Clients have no idea that not only does rover over charge them “extended days” but that it’s so they can take more money from the sitter. I’ve started having my clients book directly with me for a discounted price instead because Rover is basically a scam.

I've only been able to find ONE sitter on Rover. Every time I try and find one, their calendar says they are free (open for booking) but every time I contact one, they give an excuse that they are busy and cannot do it. You should require your sitters to keep their calendars up to date.

In theory, Rover is a great idea & the dog walker we found is trustworthy & lovely with our dog - Rover support is minimal however, the app is designed to be ‘hands off’ low maintenance & serve the profits of the company rather than offer proper & timely support to the users. For example, I received an email saying I’d had a credit added for introducing a friend no sign of it actually on my account - I’ve just had an email saying they need up to 72 hours to look into it, rapidly going off the app & will look for alternatives.

Unfortunately I did not have a great experience with my sitter. I needed someone to spend time in my home with my anxious young cat and came home to find urine and feces around the house, items left behind by my sitter, and the camera showed additional guests at my home. It was obvious that my cat was very stressed out when I returned home and it took days to get my spare keys back after they were not left behind. Some of these issues are minor but my overall experience was disappointing. I do not feel my cat was given proper care or that my space was respected under the circumstances.

I have had several dog sitters for our dogs and never had an issue. I booked dog sitting through Rover for four nights. After two nights, the sitter sent me a WhatsApp saying my dogs barked too much and that she was not prepared to have them any longer. I was abroad and was left scrambling to find a new sitter. I found one and the original sitter dropped off the dogs. I wrote to Rover to ask for a refund. Instead of refunding me half of the fee (approx £360), they refunded me only one third and offered me a £10 credit on future bookings. Truly absurd - why only refund one third of the service? Not only did I only get to use one half of the booking, but the cancellation half way through meant I missed a client dinner because I was calling around trying to find someone to look after the dogs! I would have thought they would be inclined to refund at least fifty percent for the awful service alone.
