The sitters are great, but the service fee of 50$ that goes straight to rover is excessive.

Overall, I can’t say I enjoyed this experience. The gal we hired to be our sitter was sketchy, lied to us, and snuck out of our house, leaving it unattended and unlocked for hours. That’s why I can’t give more stars. The Rover helper was good. She listened and took my concerns seriously. Myrating is mostly for the support I received. We came to a good resolution, but I will definitely think twice about using Rover again.

The prices are too high

I do not like paying for a holiday pay for another sitter because my continued sitter is sick! The day after a holiday, to me, is not considered a holiday. Your customer service person today was not pleasant or customer friendly at all! It was basically, either book or not; my choice... Then, basically hung up on me!!!

Loved the people and place that looked after Miss Cookie. Unfortunately, I was very frustrated with the dependence on technology. It should make the transaction simple, but mostly it irritated me.

This was a hard one to rate for me. From their website everything looks all roses, smiling sitters (or staged?), happy pets...you get it. I needed a place for my 16yr old nearly blind 7 lb dog for 4 days while I went in for a surgery. Like some other reviews I read..first meet was outside. I was comfortable with her but ko idea what inside her house looked like Then plans changed, like usual for me...anyway I cancelled the booking and right away on the app, messaged the sitter and immediately I was advised they were holding back half (because you have to pay in full up front). Two things....the cancellation policy was 50% refund if less than one week notice...geez even doctors/dentists only charge if less than 24 or 48 hours notice (depending). Secondly...should you pay in full for a service not performed? I don't agree but that's just me. So I immediately contacted the sitter and Rover administration. The sitter was kind and since the cancellation was only hours into the one week deadline plus me extremely upset, she was able to get me my full deposit back. The company however really just sent me a standard reply email and said it was up to the sitter to approve a refund. I can't comment on the results of my little dogs' stay since it didn't happen, but, please do your research, be prepared to lose most of your payment. if you watch some YouTube videos on this company..it's an eye opener. My opinion is that these sitters should consider to go out on their own...set up your own little business, make your rules and policies reasonable instead of trying to rob people for their unfortunate life changes. I gave a 3 rating because the sitter agreed to the refund. The company itself...not sure if they really wanted to help me out and I would have given a 2 (maybe).

I’ve given a three star, only because the situation has turned out okay in the end, or it would have been less, but I feel feedback is needed. I had used Rover last year, and everything ran smoothly, with no issues at all. This year, the sitter I used last year couldn’t accommodate part of the request, so I put in requests to three others. Two didn’t respond back at all to decline or accept either way. And the third one got as far as arranging a meet and greet and then gaslit me. If someone can’t accommodate, totally get that people’s situations change and would have understood with at least a courtesy message to confirm. I just feel it’s very unprofessional for people who are in a customer service industry to not use basic manners. In the end I have come to an arrangement via the Rovers site with my original boarder from last year.
