I get bombarded with messages from Rover. They take too large a share of the money from the pet sitters.

Could be better
For pet owners, this company provides access to qualified pet sitters. and for that reason, I like the service. What I don’t like is that they do not vet their pet sitters as well as they should. I had two instances where the pet sitters demanded that I tip them. I did not feel that they deserved a tip at the time and yet I felt a bit harassed. I have used them, but will be more careful about doing my own research before using any of Rovers pet sitters.

Rover charges too much service fee
Rover charges too much service fee. Some sitters are abusing the rates during holidays.

Hello, thanks for reaching out. I’d be happy to explain rates more. Sitters on Rover can set and edit their rates. To view all of a sitter’s rates, such as their holiday, additional dog, or puppy rate, select the See Additional Services & Rates option on the sitter’s profile. The dates, type of service, and pets included in a request will all play a factor in which of the sitter’s rates will apply to the booking. If you have any questions about the rates for a particular service, we recommend contacting your sitter. Sitters can adjust the pricing for a pending request or booked service, so long as the owner agrees to the update. Additionally, our service fees cover the Rover Guarantee, both our 24/7 Trust and Safety and Customer Service, site maintenance, and product improvements. They also help cover benefits for sitters, including the costs of processing payments and ongoing promotion of sitters on Rover. Im disappointed to learn that $70 of my…
Im disappointed to learn that $70 of my $211 went towards Rover instead of the wonderful lady who watched my doggie. When I paid online my fee showed $26 going to Rover. That’s not right to her and it took her 2 weeks to receive payment when i paid for services upfront.

We're constantly refining our system for transparency and fair distribution to support both sitters and pet owners. Payments for completed bookings typically appear in a sitter's account within 2 days. If your tip was added after the initial payment, it'll show in the sitter's account within 24 hours. Navigate to your Dashboard by selecting your name in the upper right corner of your screen. Then select Dashboard. 2. Select Edit below your pet's name. 3. On ne s'improvise pas pet sitter sans compétence
Quand on confi son animal de compagnie à une plate-forme comme la vôtre. On pense que les gens sont compétent. Or j'ai eut la mauvaise expérience de tomber sur quelqu'un qui est incompétent, qui ne s'adapte pas au chien. Tous les animaux ont une intensité d'énergie différente, si pour certains 2 km de promenade suffit pour d'autre il en faut 7 ou 8 km. Et il ne faut pas oublier que le chien subit un traumatisme lorsque son maître le laisse seul, donc il faut un minimum d'empathie pour comprendre ce que vie l'animal et tout faire pour que son séjour se passe le mieux possible.

Contacted dozens, only 2 actually showed up.…
I've had two wonderful sitters from Rover out of the dozens I've contacted. Rover should allow reviews for all sitters,not only verified stays. I had to move over 700 miles to visit my family because of Rover sitters who 1.Never responded. 2.Responded with a yes then "remembered another obligation. " More than likely because they were invited to a holiday event.3.Say yes,have a meet and greet, accept payment,then cancel.I worked as a nanny.When someone depends on you then you show up unless you're in the hospital. Very unprofessional and disheartening.

We do send out regular reminders to sitters to update their availability and their accounts are affected if they do not. We are also currently testing more reminder options!

Referral was not implemented well
UPDATED Rover offers to pay for sitter referrals. I referred a friend who used Rover's link to fulfill conditions of the offer (complete a first paid sitting gig). The first problem was that the link Rover supplied went through a referral service, but Rover hadn't paid their bills so the link was defective. The second problem was that it took nag emails to get Rover to acknowledge that they owed me for referral. That was done and they did mail me a link to receive payment. I missed this email, which led to a great deal of stress and annoyance, but ultimately it turned out to be my fault that I missed it. Finally I have been paid and am now editing the review to remove a lot of the complaint. The difficulty means I am reluctant to go through the referral process again but otherwise the connection for pet sitting is good.
