Poor experience as a sitter
I have to say, I was hopeful of Rover being a decent site but now that I have used them I am truly horrified at their lack of good customer service. I was a sitter for Rover for one month. I had a problem with them taking donations out of my earnings despite having cleared them after only a week. They don't allow you to take the donations that you give out of your own earnings on your taxes because they take them for you. Really dishonest way of doing business. Not only do they take 15% which is fine and standard, they hope you decide to give donations so that they can take the tax benefit as well. When I pointed out the illegalities of their actions they were not helpful and very defensive. Really poor customer service over such a small sum of money. They also have this way of defending internal policies (not consumer facing at all) and think that it is okay even though their terms of service contradicts their internal policy. Ridiculous. They obviously do not care about sitters at all. The money flows in from the dog owners so it is obviously all they care about. I switched to DogVacay and am very happy with my decision to do so.
