I had a horrific experience with Rover. When my dog was returned to me, he was covered in mold and urine, terrified, and severely sick. Despite needing immediate veterinary care, Rover’s customer support completely brushed off the situation and refused to assist with the vet bills. To make matters worse, another pet parent posted a review describing the exact same appalling treatment from this same sitter. Rover clearly does not vet its sitters or care about pet safety when things go terribly wrong.

I've used Rover for years. I used them before they changed the name to Rover. This recent experience was terrible. I paid over $850 for a pet sitter to care for my dogs for 8 days. I brought food and treats for them. The sitter wrote down instructions that I gave her. For the 8 days that I was on vacation she sent a short text at 2:40am the first day. Then I heard nothing for 6 days even though she promised updates. I kept texting asking for updates and was ignored. I called Rover as instructed by their website help. They transferred me to another department. They told me I had to contact the sitter. The sitter was ignoring me. So Rover didn't nothing. I picked up my dogs at the end of the 8 days. They smelled like feces so strong I could smell them 10 feet away. They were confined in a cage the whole time where they had to poop and pee. That's the only way they could smell that bad. The sitter looked like she was on meth. I will never trust Rover again.

While looking for a pet boarder on rover we almost left our dog with a client which was advertised on their site. Something just didn't feel right with them and I cancelled at the last minute after receiving some alarming information from someone I know. This unlicencensed so called pet boarder has just been convicted in court by the sspca for animal cruelty, caging dogs in her kitchen two or three to a cage with no access to food or water. Some of the dogs had open sores on their legs and covered in urine. I would be very careful about using this site for pet boarding as obviously the people aren't vetted and you just don't know who you are leaving your pet with. I had a lucky escape but am disgusted that these people were allowed to advertise on rover

I had an awful experience with Rover, and what made it worse was how little accountability there was afterward. When I tried to leave an honest review about my situation, it felt like the platform cared more about managing reviews and protecting its image than actually helping me or taking my concerns seriously. People use Rover because they are trusting strangers with their pets and homes. That requires real oversight, transparency, and support — not a system where bad experiences get minimized and customers feel silenced. After my experience, I would not trust Rover again. The convenience is not worth the risk.

Pur avendo pagato una quota d'iscrizione per poter offrire prestazioni di dog e cat sitter, non sono stata messa in contatto con nessuno a tre settimane di distanza dall'attivazione del mio account. Tutto fa pensare a un servizio in realtà inesistente, dove funzione una presentazione convincente per versare le quote richieste nelle tasche dei titolari!

Did not address my review or refund me for items that were not returned to me. Asked for pictures but I am unable to take pictures of missing items.

My dog got mauled while at the sitter, rover refused to aid in the vet bill.
