This note is in regard to charges on Rover. I had arranged for a sitter for several (7?) months hence, and Rover charged the full fee to my credit card. I would not have minded if they'd charged a deposit fee, but they charged the entire bill which I have to pay now. I do not like this policy. I called, and was told that is the way things are done.

Hi Jacqueline,
We're sorry for the added confusion. It may appear as you were charged for the booking, although, this is a 'hold' on your funds until the actual charge goes through. The 'hold' will disappear as soon as the charge is settled. It's great that you plan well in advance, we have some possible options available. Although the booking may be 7 months away you can communicate with your sitter and make aware that you're planning on booking those dates and to mark their calendar unavailable. Many sitters are willing to do this to help accommodate so that your funds aren't held for a long timeframe. Thank you for the feedback, we're always looking for ways to improve and will pass this feedback over to our product team.
Regards,
Spencer D.

Could I give a -15
Could I give a -15? I would if I could. I left my 2 dogs with a sitter from River while we We were traveling over the holiday. She left them unattended and unsupervised with her pit bulls, who were previously separated by gates when we dropped them off. One of my dogs was MAULED and suffered a horrific death because of her negligence and cruelty. The boarder is being prosecuted, thank God. It turns out she had a history of neglecting dogs, yet was approved by the so-called screening of Rover. The pain has been unbearable. When we contacted Rover, they mumbled apologies and blew us off. The time is now to to legislate and regulate dog care.

Hello Mary, I am so sorry for your loss. I understand you had contacted the Trust & Safety team regarding this experience. While the Trust & Safety team is limited in the assistance they can provide for incidents that occur during stays that are not booked directly on the Rover platform, your insight was greatly appreciated as dog safety is our top priority. Their site stinks
Their site stinks. Most of the people I’ve dealt with are liars and not dependable. You hire them and ask them to pick up the keys and hours later they don’t show up. Their calendar says they are free and they respond and say they are not. The icing on the cake was Cassie today. She was supposed to make a couple of drop ins later on this week. I called her over the weekend and she texted she was out of state. Called her again Monday and she texted she was at work and couldn’t answer. Never heard from her yesterday so I texted her this morning and said I wanted my keys back. She said she would drop them off after work. She didn’t even have the courtesy to knock on my door. She left them in my mailbox. if she didn’t want to provide her services she should have been an adult about it and been honest with me.

Very Disappointed
I have been trying to find a sitter on Rover for a little over a month now (first time user) and I found 4 people who said they could watch my dog. Each one of this people demonstrated extreme unprofessionalism and I am very disappointed. Between not showing up to meet and greets, and just not responding back at all, I was very discouraged. After confirming a meet and greet with one sitter yesterday for this morning, she never showed up and her account said “This profile is no longer active”. Thank God I was able to get a sitter from my neighborhood, but as a first time user on Rover.com I was expecting this wonderful experience that many people stated in their reviews. It is safe to say I will be deleting my Rover account and will not be reactivating it.

I have used Rover for almost a year- terrible service, security risk
I have used Rover for almost a year, walkers routinely fail to show up or notify the service or me, leaving my dog stranded without a potty break. Several times walkers have left the key in the door of my unit, or left the door wide open to my unit after they left my home create HUGE security risk. When I speak with customer service they tell me there is nothing they can do - and to leave better instructions for walkers (i.e. remind them to close and lock door.). It appears walkers get zero training and there is no oversight of quality, security or consistency.

Hi Alison,
We're saddened this was your experience. Each sitter is a small business owner that lists their services on Rover. In that regard, it is extremely important for owners to meet their sitters and walkers prior to the scheduled service, both for interviewing purposes to ensure the walker is qualified to meet your criteria. Meet & Greets offers the perfect time to give instructions and discuss in detail what the job entails.
Best,

Don’t use Rover.com - they don’t know their sitters!
The dog sitter I found on Rover.com needs to have charges filed against her! We went on a 12 day vacation & came home to a trashed house. Our two small poodles had been left for many hours, sometimes over night without any attention. The carpet in our living room is ruined and needs to be replaced. Our tile was also soiled down to the grout. We can’t imagine the hate that someone like this sitter has in her heart to treat two innocent small dogs so badly. We’re appalled at Rover.com.

I had such a poor experience with one…
I had such a poor experience with one of the sitters on Rover.com that it still haunts me today, 5 months later, and I vow to NEVER use rover again. I had reached out to a sitter that lived in the Kingston, MA area (where I am not from) because I was getting married in a nearby country club. I wanted to find someone who would be willing to help me watch my dog during my wedding ceremony, bring my dog for photos afterwards, and then take care of her the rest of the night. When I initially contacted a well-reviewed sitter in the area, I explained my entire situation and told her that I understand if what I was asking for was too much and I would understand if she couldn't do it. I even said I was willing to pay more. Mind you, this was a month before my wedding. She agreed. However, one week before I was getting married, she messaged me and said she realized she cannot take care of my dog until the late hour (11PM) I requested because she has children and other dogs to watch and there was potential for waking them up. I asked her what my options were and she said I can pick her up earlier on my wedding night or very early the next day (7am). I'm sure you guys can imagine that this put me in a very difficult position because I cannot leave my OWN WEDDING early to pick up my dog. I also would have made the sacrifice to wake up early the next day to get her if I wasn't leaving for the airport at 4am that same morning to go on my honeymoon. Now I was scrambling to find someone else that would watch her late that same night. When I asked if the sitter would lower her price of the stay, she refused. So now I was stuck having to pay more for someone else to watch my dog later on in the evening. All this being said, the morning of my wedding came and everything was chaotic. People were running late, things fell behind, things were missing, etc - all part of anyone's normal wedding day. I tried my best to keep this sitter informed even though I was running around here and there trying to fix problem after problem. I could do nothing except give her an idea of when my Mother could drop off my dog. She first told me that she wouldn't be home because she was completing an certification course and my dog could be dropped off with her husband at work. Sounded odd but ok, she was willing to work with me and that is all I wanted. Then when my Mother ended up coming later than I expected due to my Grandfather getting lost coming to the church, I informed the sitter and she said "I simply cannot be expected to wait around all day" and then said she left to run errands like buy groceries. This sitter was so unbelievably cold and heartless towards me. She cancelled the visit and I got half a refund back. I had a huge knot in my stomach because now I had to scramble to figure out what to do with my senior dog in an area I did not know. Long story short, I felt like she bailed on me even though I paid a lot of money to have her watch my dog. I don't understand why she would leave her home to do errands if she agreed to watch my dog for the day. To make matters worse, this was my wedding day and I did not get to take pictures with my dog like I had hoped, my grandfather did not get to walk me down the aisle because he got lost, and when I asked this sitter for my refund, she said she "simply cannot forego payment" because I didn't abide by strict drop off times. When I eventually got in touch with Rover support, they said they couldn't ask for a full refund because this woman has a contract. I'm sorry but in every business I have dealt with that deals with animals, I haven't met someone so cruel. I was so disappointed at rover.com for having a sitter like this on file. She took my money no problem when we first arranged this. But was immensely difficult afterwards. I just wanted to find someone responsible to help watch my senior dog and to be understanding that this was a wedding day.
I contacted support several times and the best they could do was ask her for a refund which she refused. I work in customer service all day and think twice to complain over anything. But this was a major issue and I cannot believe how the situation was so poorly handled by the sitter and the company. I never got an apology from this sitter. In fact, when all my wedding problems were coming together, I apologized to her many times. This sitter didn't have a heart and I know this doesn't reflect on the other sitters that work through this site but the fact that customer service could only do so little to help was frustrating as well.

Awful experience
Had a terrible experience with my selected sitter who never showed up to care for my dog. There wasn’t sufficient time for Rover.com to find a replacement sitter, so while I was 3000 miles away from my dog for an entire weekend, the most Rover.com did was give me a $20 credit to use for a future reservation (with a 14 day experation).
Becaue the sitter never showed up and they refunded my money, I was unable to leave a review for this particular sitter. It defeats the purpose of reviews, since it’s the basis of individuals selecting their sitter. If you do use their services, just know that the reviews are skewed and those with bad experiences aren’t able to inform others.
When I got back from my trip, my dog was extremely sick and became anxious/trembled whenever I’d step away from her. I spent a week giving her medications and had to thoroughly clean all rugs in my apartment.
I will say that Rover.com’s customer support was supportive and did take appropriate matters to prevent this sitter from harming anyone else’s dog, but the concern was only after the fact.
Overall, if you use their services, be weary and ensure all your conversation with the sitter happens on their app. It’s what made it so easy for them to read the lies my sitter was saying as she pretended to have done her job. Good luck.

Hi Marili,
We're truly saddened this has been your experience. As fellow pet parents ourselves we can only imagine the added stress while away from your loved one. Although, we didn't have sufficient time to find a replacement sitter while you away, we were able to offer you $100 RoverBucks due to this experience. We greatly appreciate you bringing this experience to our attention to take appropriate action to ensure other users don't share this same experience.
Best,
