We use this service July 12th p.m. and July 13th a.m. for the feeding of our three dogs. The sitter came thru and took care of our dogs, but when we tried to contact her to get the key to our house back we never got a reply. Never got our key back so we had to change the lock on our door. In addition, we also contacted her about some minor damage. That call was not returned either. WE WILL NEVER USE THIS SERVICE AGAIN

Wish I could give 0 stars
Wish I could give 0 stars! Do not use this company or their sitters!
Our experience with KristyAnn was so bad that we actually canceled her services in the middle of the reservation!! And called Rover to complain ( not that it did any good). She kept having to reschedule coming over to meet me and my pets so I should have known then it was going to be a problem.
She agreed to come to our house 3 times a day for 30 mins each but was only coming for 14-20 mins at a time and was coming at midnight and 2am. My dog is old so this was hard on her. The final straw was when she didn’t show up for the morning feeding/medicine dose until 1130 which meant my dog hadn’t been out in almost 12 hours. Her coming and goings daily was so sporadic and she was not staying as we agreed and paid for so we felt she was not giving our pets the best care and safety so we termed the contract mid week.
She has hundreds of great reviews but if you read them carefully they are for her watching pets in her home not in yours! There was another complaint against her for the very same issues we had and I wished I seen it before I hired and paid her. I’d never recommend KristyAnn or Rover.com again.

Hi Leah, we are sorry to hear that the arrangements made with your care provider fell short of your expectations. We understand our team was made aware of these concerns and followed up accordingly. We hope Abby is doing well.

I was visiting my daughter in…
I was visiting my daughter in Pittsburg. I had my dogs with me. We planned a day out and I have used Rover before in Miami. I booked Marlene C. (West Mifflin) and I called her after booking to speak with her. She explained that she had two dogs and a cat, which she has on her description. What she does not have there is that if she needed to go out and do groceries, as she told me, she would leave the pets unsupervised all together. I did not feel comfortable with this and she said to bring my crates. I did not carry with my crates to this trip and I would never leave my dogs with other dogs and cats that I am not familiarized with unsupervised. I called her back a couple of hours later and I told her I wish to cancel and nicely explained the reason. She said it was ok and just to do it through rover. I did do it through rover, but there must have been a glitch, because it never went through, like my last time I contacted Rover to let them know that I wrote a text to her with my complaint and I never got a call back from Rover.
I did book Sarah and she was absolutely amazing. She also has dogs and cats, but made me feel comfortable and she told me not to worry, that there would be someone with them for the just 1 day I originally booked with her. I was refunded only half of the amount paid to Marlene because of a strict policy she has in place. This is not about $25, this is because she did not specify on her description that the dogs are left unsupervised in her home and if one is not ok with that, you must bring your crates along.
The customer support person at Rover was very nice and tried contacting her and ask about the refund and she just said she had a strict policy in place for a reason. I called her a couple of hours after booking to cancel.
I hope this helps to improve the description of your petsitters, because one has to pay before one knows about these details.

Hi Maria,
We're saddened that you didn't have a great experience. We encourage all users to conduct a Meet & Greet before every stay to confirm that it's a great fit for all parties. Our platform is an online meeting place for sitters (independent pet care providers) and owners to come together and be introduced for the goal of excellent pet care. In that regard, it is extremely important for owners to meet their sitters and walkers prior to the scheduled service, both for interviewing purposes to ensure the walker is qualified to meet your criteria. While booking with a sitter, always take note of their cancellation policy. Strict cancellation policies don't offer refunds in the event a stay is canceled in short notice.
Regards,
Spencer D.

Rover will not back you up
The person I hired, Kandle, was supposed to come by once a day to feed my dogs. She stayed at my house (I know this because my neighbor told me), ate my food (left cooked food on the counter and filled the sink with dishes), threw away a lot of my things, and the worst part is that she said she “decompressed” my older dog’s spine by bending him until she “felt resistance.” She said she knew how to do this because she had compressed several of her vertebrae during a suicide attempt. She also broke two of my miniblinds and Rover will not help me pay for them, nor will they help me collect from the psycho who broke them. Stay far away. Do not ever let a stranger into your house.

Useless site/useless service
Useless site. I contacted three possibilities for house-sitters in a row for our Chihuahua. One didn't even have a car and couldn't get out to our area. The second one said she was available and then all of a sudden she wasn't when we started talking about times. The third possibility said that she wasn't available at all. What's the point of indicating that you're available on a given day and then end up not being available after all?? I honestly don't know whether to blame this on rover.com or on the dog sitters themselves. I thought it was a complete fail when I tried to use it and I would just as soon avoid them altogether in the future.

Tried Rover for the FIRST time, NEVER again!!!
Tried Rover for the FIRST time and SOOOOOOOOOOOO disappointed. Will not be using them ever again. I booked with someone who was supposed to meet me. She canceled on me 3x. Two days before I was supposed to leave I messaged her and she ASSURED me she would be here the next day. I told her if she couldn't do it to let me know so that I would still have time to find someone else. 6:30pm, FOURTEEN hours before I have to leave, she cancels on me! When I call Rover, customer service was very unhelpful telling me that their pet sitters are "independent contractors". So basically they allow "pet sitters" to use their name and their platform but they don't care about the completely unprofessional behavior of their pet sitters!!! I've used other sites in the past that were way more helpful and concerned about the people that were using their website and would never allow behavior like this!

NEVER use Rover
I had a horrible experience with Rover. A sitter in Napa, CA who I will call A. responded to my request and we negotiated a price, a visit schedule and a set of tasks. When I returned home after two and a half weeks I found that my dogs had NEVER been walked in 18 days, there were dog feces carpeting the side yard, the sitter was there for as short as 5 minutes at a time, with an average of 10 minutes, items broken, my house reeking of cat urine. I asked A. what happened and received a bizarre rant back, telling me that my pets were still alive so I should be thanking her. I asked Rover to help but since A. asked me to pay her directly and not on Rover, Rover said they couldn’t do anything. They said they would review her, however in spite of multiple abusive messages from her to me, Rover has done nothing. Although A. and I negotiated a price of $1,800 for 18 days she sued me in small claims court for almost $5,800. I had no choice but to take a day off work and go. The judge asked her how she got that number and she just kept saying it was from the Rover app. She finally admitted I had never agreed to that price. She also admitted to the judge she had never walked my dogs, never informed me of this, never picked up the mess in the yard. She had pictures of the inside of my home, claiming she couldn’t help the broken items I found because my house is messy. This woman took pictures of the inside of my home before I even got home or said a word about the quality of her work. This is a huge security issue. Rover claims they guarantee their sitters but they do not. My pets were neglected and abused and Rover has done nothing about it. I would NEVER use Rover again and would strongly advise others to look for local alternatives.

Hello Elspeth, as pet parents ourselves, we can only imagine how stressful this experience must have been. Rover is limited in the assistance we can provide when stays are not booked on the Rover platform. However, safety and professionalism are our top priorities and as such, the appropriate team is investigating the sitter. If you have any additional details or questions, please feel free to give Rover Support a call.
