Sucks! Rover wants you to do the work for them so they can be the middle dog and make a profit off you. Within the year I was on Rover, I got 0 work, 1 fraudulent request and a "lack there of care" response by Rover. I paid for a background check, they claim they can't refund. Which I got 3 different answers within the company. On day one, I thought their app arrangement and designed was weak. I should've listen to my inner self because I was right... Buyer and Pup beware!

Hi Michael, We're sorry to hear about your experience. We weren't able to locate your account so we can't speak to specifics, however we do appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns. Background checks are an important part of providing pet owners peace of mind and a sense of security with those who may be caring for their loved ones. Background checks are the responsibility of care providers as sitters essentially operate as small businesses, rather than a direct employee. There are no other fees associated with listing your services, however. With regards to promoting your business, we have many tips and tricks to help you get started. Some great places to start are: http://bit.ly/rovermb & http://bit.ly/2zkM7WQ. We hope this helps but if you have any other questions, please feel free to give us a call at 888-453-7889.

They killed my dog. Still no answers. Sitter says he wasn’t eating or drinking his wate for days. They went out for about an hour, came home and he was unresponsive. Timeline makes no sense. They “say” they found him around 7:00-7:30 pm. He arrived at the vet at 11:15 pm. The vet said he had been dead for hours. Estimation is that afternoon! This was my daughters service dog. Just turned 3. In perfect health. He died Christmas Day. Merry F’ing Christmas. They refuse to give answers. Never trust rover! When asked what sitters statement was, we were told they do not have divulge that information. Today is the one month anniversary and my daughter can’t stay in her own apartment because of the trauma. Do not trust Rover with you pet loved one.

This company does not care about the safety of their sitters. I was bitten during a stay, hosting an aggressive dog, and was only paid for part of the stay — the owners were refunded their cancellation fees despite them being the ones cancelling the stay and the transportation fees were also waived (after I drove their dog 45 minutes home and myself 45 minutes back). However, my medical bills were fully my responsibility and no concern at all for my deep bite from this aggressive dog was shown by support. And yes — this monster dog is still allowed on the site, so watch out for who you petsit for. Avoid “Piggy” at all costs if you value your hands. WORST dogsitting company around. Try Wag if you want something worth your time.

So I thought Rover.com was a good idea. I guess I was wrong! So we get everything booked and the night before we get a cancellation from the sitter (which is acceptable due to emergency) but they charged us and didn't refund our money back to us for the week we paid for (as of yet). No phone numbers that I can find to call to speak with someone about the refund process. Requested direct line that i could call from the sitter and never got response back. Frustrating!

I find it really inappropriate that that they're using my dead dog's persona the marketing emails they send me. Also, I have had some really bad experiences with some of the dog walkers on this app not taking care of my dogs to the standard that I do.

Thank you for taking the time to write your review. As pet owners ourselves, we wanted to express our sincerest condolences. It must undoubtedly be difficult to see those emails after such a loss. We'd very much like to assist to ensure you don't get anymore of these emails. Please contact our support team at 888-453-7889 when you are ready.

I had a horrible experience. I wrote a bad review for that person and Rover had a review that went directly to them. I expected to hear from them. But never did. My older dog was severely dehydrated and lost weight. She cried like never before and the woman was hostile towards me. She blamed my dog. I had expected Rover to support the customer, but I was never contacted. I will never use Rover again. Below is a response from Rover, but I reported the conversation to Rover that made me uncomfortable and also a secondary review that stated it went directly to Rover, NOT the sitter! No reply. I love when they reply to this once it's too late. I even told them I would give them one week to reply. It's clear they dont read what they ask.

Hi, Marisa. Safety and support are our top priorities, and we apologize for any frustration. While we are not always able to directly reply to each review we receive, our Sitter Owner Success team is notified of any issues brought to light in a booking review. They then perform a holistic review of the stay, and address any concerns directly with the care provider to ensure safety going forward. We hope this helps to clarify, but if you ever need assistance in the future, our support team is available 24/7 at 888-453-7889. -Billie H.

My dog was paralyzed due to the lies and negligence of a Rover.com sitter, and Rover still promotes her services on their site. Rover apologized and acknowledged several complaints about this sitter (Annika F. in Duluth, Minnesota). Even after the knowledge that my dog is paralyzed and using a wheelchair cart for the rest of her life due to this sitter, Rover continues to promote her and allow others to hire her.
