The girl we hired was to stay at our home. We put in the care instructions and verbally that our dog is used to going out once in morning twice in the afternoon and once in evening. We have motion detection and also the Neigbor was watching out for us. The first couple of days went well understanding she had a part time school schedule which she was away a couple of hours. When we noticed she left at 8:00 in the morning and wasn’t back to the house at 4:00 we tried calling her no answer we called our neighbor to let him out she finally called us back and told us she had some appointments come up between her classes which were 5 hours apart. When I told her my concern of the dog not going out for almost 12 hours she said she would skip her class and leave now ,she did not get to the house till 6:30 which she was only a half an hour away. This is 11 hours without him going out! She said she skipped her class!!! What time would it have been this is neglect not the service I hired. We left a day early and the next day on our way home she did not get out of bed till almost noon! Not surprised there was pee marks on the carpet. Please be careful who you hire.

This companies entire platform is…
This companies entire platform is illegal, they have the worst customer service and support I have ever experienced. Completely incompetent trust and safety team, they have no personal regard for anyone, you will be read a script and treated like a number by someone that doesn't care about you or your dog. Watch the response to this review, it will be some impersonal scripted robotic response.

WAITING FOR A REFUND
no complaint about the sitters however, I have been waiting for a refund on a cancelled booking for almost 3 WEEKS.
Numerous inquires have been made at the site and, despite their promise of a response, not a peep from them.

worst possible service - pooches beware
worst possible service.
Dog ended up on back to back ER visits after a weekend with a Rover caretaker, and somehow Rover claims it's not covered. It's bad luck, but it happened under their watch nonetheless...
edit 2:
I stand confirmed by Rover, thank you. Worst possible service.
They have spent their time and money writing to confirm they in fact don't provide a good service, instead, they intend on telling a customer that while a negative situation occurred under their watch the customer is wrong.
To give a comparison point, the caretaker under whom the problems occurred has checked-in every day, multiple times a day, to find out how the dog is doing. She even offered the noble action of refunding us for the troubles caused. That is what good service looks like, regardless of the outcome. Rover, on the other hand, has never checked in on how the dog was, and has dedicated their resources to writing responses to a negative review to "guarantee" they won't get a returning customer. They seems fine spending money on getting new customers and churning the out, pretty much burning money...
Bottom line, if you want to risk having to deal with a company like this, and risk having your dear canine family hurt, I'd invite you to reconsider and find someone else. Peace of mind is not what I have when I think of them.
Edit 1:
Rover "guarantee" is a misleading marketing "care" term. Caveat emptor (buyer beware) this company is "offering" (yet misleading) to take of the damages to your pet that occur when you use their services. However, they have no intention of fulfilling that offer. The response they have added to my review responds to what happened to a 2-year dog, perfectly healthy and extremely sociable, that while being dropped off with no problems on a Friday morning, was returned with a penile inflammation on Sunday afternoon (which requires medical intervention), and subsequent vomiting and defecating blood that same day (having not eaten anything after being picked up). It's unfortunate, but it occurred while using Rover's service. The caretaker explained that it was possible that he had eaten something that was not for him, which the doctor pinpointed to the cause of the vomiting and blood, but Rover will not honor their commitment from Rover "Guarantee".
The service could be good, and could serve its purpose. But the way the company responds to an unfortunate event, provides the evidence required to understand the risk a client is running when choosing to hire Rover. For many, dogs are their kids, and very important, whoever you hire should be as diligent, and willing to assume the responsibility of the services they provide. Rover is not that company. I recommend other users to find elsewhere.

Hello and thank you for your feedback. We're so sorry this was your experience and hope that both you and your pet are doing well. We truly appreciate the opportunity to address your concerns and hope we can offer some clarification. Please note that the Rover Guarantee is in place for medical costs used to diagnose and treat injuries that are a direct result of a stay/care provided during a stay.
Based on the veterinary information provided to us, your pets penile inflammation was cause by over-excitement with other pets, and was not a result of the care provided by the sitter, which is why this was not eligible for reimbursement. With regards to the stomach issues described, the Rover Guarantee is not in place for conditions such as gastroenteritis, pancreatitis, etc. which is why we were unable to assist with these costs.
We apologize that your claim request fell outside of the Rover Guarantee coverage, and have sent you an outcome letter detailing this determination. We apologize for any frustration but if you have any questions you can reach our Trust & Safety team 24/7 at 888-453-7889. -Billie H.

Beware of Crazies
I love the concept of Rover, but have had two bad experiences in a row. The first one, was a college student, who smoked way too much pot, and forgot to give us back our doggie kit we packed for the dog for over two months, in which case I had to drive and go get it 40 miles away to the new place she moved to.
The second case was a seemingly nice 18 year old. She ended up having an old nasty dog that was supposed to be sweet, but didn't get along with our dog, so my dog had to be locked in a small area. What's worse is she had a completely mentally ill mother who wouldn't stop calling me on our vacation, (and after our vacation !), who said her daughter was traumatized by the experience ?!!?.

My dog was bitten
My dog was bitten by another dog at the Rover pet sitter's home. They didn't even tell me about it, but I noticed that she was in pain as soon as I petted her on the head. Did they not even pet her? She had dried blood and pus with infection when I picked her up after being there only 3 nights. How could they not even notice or provide safe care for my dog? Now they are fighting the $150 vet bill. Please don't use Rover. Their rover guarantee of safety is worthless because they only pay if the vet bill is higher than $250.

Wouldn’t meet dogs before ...
Communication very slow, sitter had confirmed dates with us only to then never respond to emails with regards meeting me and my dogs before the dog sitting dates. Not trusting my dogs with someone who doesn’t want to meet them/me.
