As someone who has walked clients dogs AND hired walkers for my dog, I can definitely say Rover is no good. As a walker, you will get little to no requests, find a different job, and then have to tell everyone you can't walk their dog because you are working. As a client, you'll simply be on the other end. No one will be available to walk your dog. I contacted someone 2 miles away from my to walk my husky and Rover said "You're too far away for (dog walker). Contact more dog walkers closer to you." 2 miles isn't far and that was the closest walker to my location. And all the while Rover takes a huge cut of the pay. Unbelievable. Look up a local company instead.

Allowing one to take the Sitter test over and over again until they pass is far from qualifying as responsible and when I would want caring for my loved ones. Did you know by law in some states it is required if you are caring for a pet in your home that you are licensed and inspected by the Dept Of Agriculture. Grover fails to leave that out saying they might not be legally operating a kennel but we will advertise them on our site regardless because the agreement they sign waves all our responsibility regarding that. You can literally and if you do not believe me go and try it for yourself to become a sitter on rover you watch a few videos and answer some questions that is it and if you don’t pass the first second or 20th time well you can keep trying until you do that is how you become a sitter on rover. Just because somebody has a clean background does not mean they are safe to be in your home they could be or they could just be smart enough they haven’t been caught. But again rover does not care they only care that someone watch their videos answered a few questions and paid for the background check and will get their commission from each job. Now For the record I’m not saying everybody on there is not qualified to care for pets but I would be willing to bet that more than half aren’t and think it is easy to have some dogs or cats running around while you get paid for it when it is SO much more than that. I’m glad I went independent that is when I really learned how to legally operate as Pet care provider over could care less as long as they are getting their cut. It sounds more like they care about the bottom line and not so much about who they are representing as a qualified safe professional individual to go into another’s home and care for another’s loved one. When something sadly does happen they have the nerve to give you a credit for future services as if saying we’re sorry about the first incident but come back again and chance that there may be another one.

Did like rover but now not some much, dog got watch by a sitter thought would be good. And had amazing reviews but did not state was watching another dog at the time. My dog got into a fight with the other dog and was not told until Igot there. Which is unacceptable, Rover has a guarantee but basically like a eductible have to spend 250 yourself but if u dont have to cover the Bills yourself. Of the sitter doesnt pay for it. Basically what happen got screw over by this ignorant sitter. Had a 600 vet bill rover is covering 350, I think then need to put a hold on the sitters account until the pay for the rest to make right.

I have had the worst experience with one of Rover's sitters, Carla B. She works in the States (Atlanta, GA) and Canada (west coast and Ontario), so be aware if you come across her name. 2 things to be aware of, she is a CON ARTIST pretending to be a pet sitter, she abandoned my pets after 1 day of sitting (which was when I was already out of the country so was helpless) and she fakes an emergency to end the job. First she wanted to use the rover website, but as we started talking, she indicated she wanted cash, This is called diverting. Do not pay anyone cash, go through the web site all the time to protect yourself. Use the texting system not whatsapp or email to communicate with the sitter because that's your proof should something go awry with the job, and Also, take a copy of their Identification to confirm the name, address and legitimacy of the person working. it cost me a lot of money to replace her at the last moment when she said that I had 10 minutes to find another sitter, I'm not kidding either! she really said that, I was totally screwed and spent 2 days while in transit trying to get a sitter while my pets were unattended at home without food or water. Also she took the money and RAN!!! $700 down the drain, plus the fees for the replacement sitter. Always ALWAYS pay through the website, if the sitter leaves early, the sitter is responsible for the cost of the next sitter. Know your rights when using this website.

Really disappointed! Unable to message ANYONE through the site and the number you are directed to isn't helpful (as it's a recorded message...) - and thank you for your auto-response below, but that is the number I have been calling.

For the uninitiated to Rover.com understand that when a sitter writes" strict" it is referring to the cancellation policy. Rover.com allows THE SITTER to decide their own cancellation policy . It's cost me close to $600... not chump change. Given the present coronovirus health crisis with national and local governments shutting everything down in the last 24 hours, I wrote to cancel our booking 11 days away. We could no longer travel as planned. I had a developed relationship with a dog sitter in Milford Ct, (Broghan) We had used her 2 other times successfully for our dogs. She told me that i was cancelling too late from the booking date. Her policy has a "strict" 2 week time frame. She offered to give a 50% refund ( with an additional $75 nonrefundable booking fee?) that could be put toward another stay. Present circumstances globally and nationally are exceptional. For this sitter, even with 11 days to fill the spot, her "strict" cancellation policy is improper if not deplorable under the circumstances. Rover.com "BEWARE". A justification for behavior that hides behind "Everybody does it and the strict policy is not uncommon", is unacceptable. Perhaps not uncommon in common times... very shortsighted and nasty in these uncommon times. Rover.com receives a poor review from me because their business model does not include teaching respect for customer's needs. Rover.com receives no referrals from me because of its inability to tailor, follow-up, guide and expect responsible behavior from its providers ( pet sitters) to consumers especially in these exceptional times.

You might as well use Craigslist. They don’t actually screen their pet sitters and a lot of the reviews from some of the pet sitters are just faked from other pet sitters. I had a very bad experience with a pet sitter which led to me having to have my house rekeyed and Rover was completely no help. All they did was keep closing my case. Will never use them again.

I am appalled on how greedy Rover is.. they charge 15% of the booking cost PER DAY. So my dog sitter agreed to charge me £20 a day as I need to have my dog full time, 5 days a week, on day care. So in a month with 22 working days Rover wants me to pay £66 just to book. I have never seen or came across such a greedy service provider. I can understand to charge a % on the booking.. but per day?? And when you read their Guarantee there are a lot of exclusions.. so for £66 which is double to what I pay for my dog insurance you are hardly covered. Very disappointing.
