Rover failed me the very first time I used it. When my sitter did not respond or show up, I called rover and was told 2 different times they would call me back to help figure out next steps. No call backs. I called a 3rd time and was told i would get issued a refund and a coupon for next time (which I never got) and that I was on my own to find a last minute replacement. My cat was left alone without care for 4 days thanks to Rover.

Hi, Briana. Thanks for taking the time to provide us with your review. Sorry to hear about this experience. Although we understand the rare emergency can happen, please be assured we take these situations seriously, review them holistically, and take necessary actions to ensure that last minute cancellations are not abused.

WOW...AND NOT IN A GOOD WAY
First of all, vetting/background checks/licensing/insuring is a joke regardless of their claims, look into it & you’ll see. Reviews are horrific & terrifying, any good reviews are flukes or fakes, most of them are written by friends of the sitters, most of these people have zero experience yet still claim that they experienced. Almost none of the sitters ever respond or they claim they are unavailable but then those dates are still available on their calendar? The one sitter who actually showed up was late (real professional, especially since I have a cat that needs medicine at a certain time so that really made me feel great) & was well, obviously on something mind altering, because she took forever to actually get out of the car while I stood there waiting, and she could barely walk. She had zero interest in my cats (and they weren’t too thrilled with her, either) & would not stop talking, did not listen to a thing I said, had no clue about giving meds even though she said she did, she was telling me bizarre personal stories & just seemed completely zoned out & a mess. She kept repeating herself constantly, couldn’t remember a thing, and kept talking about being “friends” & hanging out. No offense, but you are supposed to be here for the cats, not a party. Very weird vibe, also kept telling me how “clumsy” she is, which immediately made me wary (lawsuit tripping on the stairs, anyone?), just seemed totally out of it, unorganized & unreliable, said inappropriate & outlandish things, and wouldn’t leave, I actually had to tell her we were cutting it short & escort her out. I also had to remind her repeatedly not to stand there with the doors open as my cats are indoor only, this woman was a total flake & totally strange, just so disappointing. Got the impression that she was not the cleanest person, very hippieish & just...dirty. Also, she had a pad & pen & was constantly doodling what looked like hieroglyphics on it, almost like sprials & circles, so whatever that was about, good luck! I was actually shocked upon first seeing this woman, I thought I was being pranked, she was just so ditzy & weird, it was awful. Thankfully I found a private sitting company who is wonderful, reliable, & honest, but wow, Rover has some winners, they are the worst.

Hi, Laura. I'm truly sorry to hear about your experience. As part of our process, all sitters on Rover must pass a background check before they can start to promote their business. To ensure that sitters meet our community standards, we hand review each profile and offer educational resources to help them succeed. Please see this link for more info (http://bit.ly/3363Snu). When unexpected emergencies occur, we encourage our users to call 888-727-1140 to report the issue and receive support.

Rover on over to the ER.....
The worst company I've ever come across. I was attacked by a dog we were sitting and put in the ER. I required numerous stitches and Rover hid behind their agreement of Independent consultants. If you want to watch dogs for money, do it on your own. Rover just takes your 20% and then offers 0 support.
It's really sad because I'm a huge dog lover and have 2 golden retrievers who mean the world to me. This company is a fraud.

Hi Aaron, we're truly sorry to hear that you were injured and hope that you have a swift recovery. Although care providers on the Rover platform are not employees, and as such, are not provided medical coverage, we take your safety and the safety of all members of the Rover Community (and their pets) very seriously. We conduct safety reviews any time an incident is reported to us in order to determine the most appropriate steps necessary for ensuring a safe platform for pet care, and remain available 24/7 should you need any additional support.

This looks suspiciously like a scam
This looks suspiciously like a scam. After spending the best part of a morning going through the application process to become a DOG WALKER (I've done simpler university applications), the site asked me to upload my identity documents. This is without any suggestion of a job. When I tried to upload a PDF simply with the words 'Pending request of services' their website is clever enough to recognise that it's not a scanned ID and doesn't let you go any further.
Looking through the positive reviews here, they look really fake.

sitter tried to hold my dog hostage and…
sitter tried to hold my dog hostage and refused to give my dog back if I didn't pay her more money for the stress my dog caused her. I had to call police and get law enforcement involved. rover did not assist. Rover was made aware of this and she is still listed as a sitter

Stay away if you care for your pet!
Stay away if you care for your pet!
We were out of state we pull up out front of the home.across from a Waffle House next store to a buy here pay here.anyone could lean over the fence and take our mini labradoodle and toy poodle.
Within 15 minutes we saw 6 different police cars go by on this street. Also you could see the interstate is like 1500 feet away from home.they said they were a nonsmoking home.
Cigarette butts and ashtrays all over the place. This was on a Friday night at 4 o’clock. We called rober they were no help we cried. We had to take them to the hotel room with us pay 150 per night per dog. We demanded rover pay us back all our money they refused we fought and fought and about this. Finally after three months they gave us a partial of our money back which came out of the sitters money not their money.Needless to say they ruined our vacation. They never did a pre-screening of this person. So we were left with paying the hotel for dogs which day would not even consider giving back any of that money. They lie they cheat and they steal. I could never be that cruel to trust rover ever again.
They had the audacity to give me $40 off my next time using them. No give me back all my money.

I tried to work at rover…
I tried to work at rover from last year... only this year they send an email with some news and i went again on the rover website to see the requirements.
rover is American ltd. So you know, where your data goes.
They ask me to give them email accounts of friends and family and send them the email from rover to review my work with dogs.
I never worked as dog walker, i did it from passion for dogs.
I told them, i can't give you their email address because i don't have their consent, wish and want. There is no other way without giving their data to you ? I wonder if GDPR cover this... if they breach the GDPR law, they are responsible and i want police to take action.
I had 3 adopted dogs. But this is a simple job to do. I wanted to do it in the morning if possible.
The question is, what if a student wants to do this and does not have any experience? You toss him just because he does not have experience?
If everyone would do like you, there would be no work anymore. Sick thinking... really.
They tried tu persuade me... no thanks, i don't have this option. I told them i could give you a fake email but i don't want. Most do, believe it or not.
Ok i said, will do something else.
And bang !! American ltd ... with UK branch or what ever.
The rover platform is good to try but is like middle man who takes a lot of money from workers.
So you know, better find a private walker. The walker will be more happy and attentive if he gets more money from you.
No matter what platform or service you use, every worker is different and this platform can't insure you have the best service. Because the workers are self employed. Look at their reviews.
