I want to confirm I never booked a sitter but interacted with two. One wanted to bring her daughter and husband with her to let my dogs out for drop in visits. The other wanted to do the same. First of all, I’m hiring the person who has a profile on the site. My dogs are friendly but large, and I don’t want to be liable if they knock over a child and cause injury. Second, I don’t want a family wandering around my house and snooping around. The booking process was an eye opener that I would never let a stranger watch my dog unless they are fully insured and a professional business.

Hi Mel, we genuinely appreciate your feedback and are disappointed to hear of your concerns. We encourage care providers to exhaust their options when considering their own personal safety for bookings, but do have a process and standard for who is able to provide care or assist with bookings. We want to ensure e all parties feel comfortable with a booking, which is why we perform background checks on care providers and we'd love the opportunity to look into this further if you'd like to give our support team a call to share details. We're here 24/7 at 888-453-7889.

A total scam organization and who use…
A total scam organization and who use false advertising to make you think they are legitimate. Their sitter "lost the keys" to our apartment (and others) on Christmas Eve. I spent all day trying to get a locksmith to get a key made with NO help from Rover. Rover then refused to pay for the FOB and mail key to be replaced. Not only that, they asked me to give them my PayPal account or Visa before they would even review the claim. Declared they have "no fault" insurance and that we would be be responsible for the first $250 in damages. Now I have to sue both ROVER and their sitter for damages. They are one of the most disgraceful organizations I have ever dealt with.
As you can see from their response is that could care less about your pet and you. Too busy covering their ass and talking about minimums and lying about what was asked for. They owe me money and yet they ask for my financial accounts on the BS that it is for reimbursement. What they said was that they would not even "review" the case until they had that information. We will see what if they continue to lie once they get in from of a judge - along with their sitter.

Hello Mark and we are very sorry to hear this was your recent experience. Although we have the Rover Guarantee in place to assist, it does come with some qualifiers before it can be activated. We ask for PayPal info or physical address (no credit card info) upfront so we can have it on file in the event the claim is eligible for reimbursement. We are happy to review anything further once the minimum contribution has been met or exceeded. Hope this helps add some clarity and please give us a call at 888-727-1140 if you have any other questions or concerns.

Years ago I found a great person on…
Years ago I found a great person on Rover so I tried it again for a 9 day vacation. We met twice with the sitter, wrote very detailed instructions to refer to and stressed many times to not let our dogs (Newfoundland and Leonberger) out of our securely fenced 1 acre. The 2nd day of our trip I got a call from a friend, not the sitter, telling me one of my dogs picture was on Facebook. My good community trying to find his home and owner as he was laying in the middle of the road, hit by a car! My neighbor had to argue with the sitter who wanted to just "put him in the garage on a dog bed," and CONVINCE the sitter to go with him to the vet's office. Happy Hawaiian vacation to me, I'm standing in the hall of my hotel crying my face off giving permission to euthanize my soul dog, most loving and beautiful Landseer Newfoundland, due to his broken back. The sitter had ONE JOB - keep my dog's alive. He failed miserably and it took me a week to clean my house from all of the dog and cat pee. I threw away expensive dog beds and rugs. I must be a terrible judge of character. I EVEN tipped him considerably more than Rover's charge before we left thinking he would be even more vested in the good care of my animals. When I read Rover's policy I decided to not even call them. You have to report this kind of stuff within 48hours and they state that you have to deal with the sitter first to receive any sort of vet bill ($1200) or cleaning compensation. The sitter's broken down car left oil stains all over my driveway, I'm quite certain the sitter does not have the $2000 I am out thanks to this. I will NEVER, EVER use Rover again. I'm either leaving my remaining dog with family, a reputable kennel, taking her with me or not even going on vacation again. 1/16 update: I see that Rover wants me to call. I'm not calling because while I do care and feel concerned for anyone else to have this experience, I have read all of the Rover policies and I can see that this will be solely between me and the sitter. Well the sitter knows everything there is to know about my house. I'm not going to start a war with this person. Instead my advice to others is to not use the Rover service at all. Because if anything like this happens to anyone else it will be the same, between them and the sitter, not them and Rover. I have learned that this sitter had others staying at my house with him. Even more people who know how to get into my house and what we have. This was never solely about the death of my dog, it's also about the destruction to my home and taking advantage of us. No thanks Rover, I'm just done with you completely, it is a very bad idea to open up your home like this, period. Also, I tried to kill my Rover account which is impossible (I work in technology,) I had to resort to just changing all of my info. to bogus info.

Last couple of stays using rover have…
Last couple of stays using rover have been awful. These “sitters” claim to have “experience” but really don’t. My dogs are currently boarding with a rover sitter and if I wasn’t so far away I would pick them up immediately. The current sitter accused me of “downplaying their behavioral issues” and charging me $100 in “damages” because my dog tore up the cushions on her couch while she left them alone. I’ve never had any issues with my dogs destroying furniture when I’ve left them alone. She also says she can’t walk my dog with just a collar and that my dog needs a harness and that she wasn’t given the “proper tools” to care for them. This is ridiculous, I take my dog hiking with a collar and never needed to use a harness. So now I have a 80+lb dog who is stuck in strangers house with no walks and is high energy?? Good luck to her is all I can say. I have also received ZERO photos of my dogs current stay. Ended up paying +$500 for two dogs boarding at the persons home for 4 days. No thanks, never using this app again.
UPDATE: Been emailing customer service and all the tell me is to contact the sitter for my concerns. Rover claims to be “alarmed” by my concerns in this review but won’t even attempt to fix the issue. Never using this app again.

The sitter cancelled at the very last…
The sitter cancelled at the very last minute and on the day I leave for my trip, all rover did was offer a $25 credit that's only valid for the original days I booked. Needles to say, I was unable to find another sitter on rover at the last minute so I wasn't able to use the credit.
The customer service is absolutely awful

Great concept, but the reality tells a different story!
Great concept, but the reality tells a different story!
I have only used Rover once and, I must say I haven’t had a good experience with the app. Firstly, I had to message several sitters who supposedly had “100% response rate” before getting an actual response.
When I finally managed to book a sitter, I ended up having a bad experience with him. I had asked the sitter to not give a long walk to my dog in high temperature, but he still decided to take my dog on a 3-hour hike while it was 29°C (=86°F) outside!
After realising that the sitter had written a dishonest public response, I have contacted customer service to edit my review. They refused because apparently, "they can't modify a review if the owner made a spelling error, or any other error related to the layout of the review, or in the rare cases where a communication error has occurred between an owner and dog sitter resulting in unwarranted negative review”.
Rover seems to care more about money than the safety of our pets. Needless to say that I have deactivated my account!

My cat
My cat, Snubby, passed away and we are heart-broken.
Rover.com keeps contacting us with various advertisements and health hints concerning "Snubby". We have contacted Rover.com and informed them that Snubby has passed and it is hurtful each time we see her name.
However, Rover.com still mentions Snubby on a regular basis. What does it take to keep from being reminded of our loss?
