Sadly, the company lies to its clients. Nicole swore to me that they (Rover) do not take a commission from its dog walkers. They only make, according to her, $1.65 from the dog owner. Of course, that is a lie as they take 20% from their fine walkers. So they get commissions from both sides!!

This was my first rover experience and before hiring it was extremely important to me that my dog was not left alone at home so I asked my pet sitter in advance if she will be home with my dog the entire time or left alone sometimes. She assured me that she would be with him the entire time. I was already uneasy with my first time having a pet sitter watch my dog but wanted to trust that this website would not hire people who are not reliable. My pet sitter was responsive in the beginning but completely stopped responding when I asked for a photo. I kept asking her to please respond and send a photo as it was my wedding day and I felt uneasy and unable to enjoy as I was worried about my dog. She finally told me that she left the house and will be back in 3 hours. My dog is 12 years old, has separation anxiety, epilepsy, and had surgery a month ago and if he was going to be left home alone I would have left him in my house where I know he feels more comfortable. I hired a rover to watch him at all times due to his health issues and I asked in advance if she would be home with my dog the entire time and she said yes. She said that she was too far away from home to check in on him but he is fine because there is a camera at home and she is watching him. I asked for a screenshot of the camera at her home to make sure I see that my dog is okay and she made an excuse that she can't send, and finally sent a black screen and said it was too dark. My senior dog was in a strange unknown apartment for the first time and she didn't leave any lights on so he was completely in the dark. My own brother and mother had to leave my wedding early because I was crying and so worried that they went to go pick my dog up. This sitter left him home alone in the dark when she assured me that she'd be with him the whole time, stopped responding to me when I asked for a photo, almost like it was because she didn't want to tell me she left the house, told me it was okay that she left the house because she has a camera to watch him but when I asked for a screenshot of the camera it was a black screen because she said it was too dark. And finally, my own brother and mother had to leave my wedding early to go pick up teddy. I am absolutely horrified with this experience it was truly the worst I could have even imagined. Teddy was supposed to stay over Saturday to Sunday morning (1 night) but was picked up Saturday night and she did not even offer a partial refund when I paid for a sleepover. I contacted Rover afterwards for a refund and I left a review on my Rover's page. I was happy with simply receiving a refund but I saw that she responded to my review saying that I was lying. I sent Rover multiple screenshots of our messages, showing that I was absolutely honest, and not lying about my experience. I spoke to customer service asking them to remove her response stating that I was lying, or have her update her answer with truthful statements. They said that they could not do this. It is upsetting to me that a user can write a review about their experience and the owner of the page could simply respond that I was lying. She also wrote multiple lies in her response, which I sent to the Rover Support Contact. I sent multiple screenshots showing that she was writing false information on her page and they said there was nothing they could do about it. I told them that it was not right for an important company that watches over people’s pets could have false information on their website and they stopped responding to me.

Robin was super sweet. I told her my pet can only have his prescribed food- 1/3 in the an 1/3 in the pm- nothing else as he has stomach issues. She tells me that she gave him chicken because he wouldn’t eat ( he’s allergic). When i unpack his back I see his food bowl is full to the brim and old. If your pet has any sort of regimen - don’t leave him there.

No Accountability or recourse when their service providers cancel last minute. Rover does not care

I used the app once and the sitter canceled my reaccuring stays and haven’t been able to find a sitter available

Rover overcharged me twice and never corrected the charge on my Visa.

I had a really bad experience using rover… The girl that came to watch my dog seemed very nice and capable. I’m really not sure as to what happened and how things went so south.. but this was my experience. The girl who stayed at my place and watched my dog left me with the following reasons to write this review: - my neighbor reported to me when I was out that she had a guy come over and stay with her (we did not discuss visitors in my home/bed) - she lost my parking pass which ended up being $150 (she paid me but regardless it was a huge inconvenience for me) - my vacuum cleaner was left broken - she left some of her clothes in my dryer mixed with my own clothes ?? - she posted on Instagram disrespecting some of my decor/fake plants - she posted that my dog was at her home - this was never discussed. My dog got into one her of plants and she posted about it “so your dog woke up and chose violence” and proceeded to tell the story of what happened. He clearly was left unattended to have gotten into a plant the way he did - my dog was sick the rest of the week pooping out soil from the plant - my poop bag holder was missing from the leash and she said it was lost somewhere in her car I wanted to be a gracious host and wanted her to feel comfortable in my home taking care of my pup but this was just too much and not what her and I discussed at all. It was a very uncomfortable experience and I tried to report it to river customer service but it is very difficult to find where to do that in the help center. I’m super disappointed as I am new in town and traveling a lot for work and really need to find someone trustworthy to take care of my dog in his environment.

Three meet and greet "no shows". I'm done.
