Our dogs were not fed properly and both came home sick. Our dogs have serious allergies. I noted this in our profile and verbally to the dog sitter. She said she understood and is able to follow the instructions. What can Rover do? Perhaps provide better training so when dogs that have special diets arrive they can be cared for properly. Sick dogs and big vet bills are not a fun way to come home

The booking system is flawed. I can't ask a potential sitter questions or find out more about them and where my pet will stay without first submitting a request to book. I also can't leave notes in my account about specific sitters, for my personal use. I also can't leave a review of a meet and greet and why I turned down a sitter.

I experienced my sitter providing negative feedback about my pet. I was not able to read until I provided their review. The information provided is not accurate regarding my pet’s typical behaviors. This was very disappointing. The care information that I provided is accurate and what other sitters/local doggy daycares have shared with me about their experiences with my dog. I feel that reviews/feedback are subjective and that the review process is misleading.

Never came back to me after my initial enquiry. Found services elsewhere instead.

I have personal experience with this company as a pet sitter. For legal reasons I feel that I should state the obvious, to be on the safe side, that this review reflects my opinions. I don't believe the ratings on this site are authentic. Every sitter, and I mean literally every single one, in my neighborhood has 5.0 star average rating. There were around 100 profiles, all 5.0 average ratings. People just aren't that nice. No company has ever had those kinds of average ratings. Could you imagine if all restaurants in your neighborhood all had Michelin stars and only 5 star ratings? It would never happen. It makes no sense at all. Extremely improbable. I believe that the company tries to get rid of sitters that make them less money, possibly because they charge less, or cause them to lose money because they have a lower threshold of reporting potential health concerns to the pet parents. That's what responsible sitters do. I recommend talking as little as you can with Rover support team and hope that your profile doesn't get noticed by Rover. Pet owners who've experienced tragedies when using Rover, like the sitter losing the pet or neglecting it, or who have recorded sitters doing a really horrible job at sitting the pets, even mistreating the pets, all said the sitter had only 5 star reviews as well. If you think critically about it, it just doesn't make sense and I personally don't like a company that is misleading customers like this.

Inadequate standards set for sitters and lack of scrutiny around performance.I booked a sitter in May in good time for my short break on 20th June.I paid and Joe accepted the booking to stay at my house with my dog.He suggested a meet and greet nearer the time and we agreed on a date and time for a visit.He postponed it due to work commitments then failed to turn up on the second re arranged visit.He didn’t message me or respond to my messages at all so I was left with no sitter 2 weeks before the planned break.I sent at least 5 other booking requests in panic and not one of the sitters responded to say yes or no.I left several messages with Rover to express my concerns and it took them 2 days to respond.I was offered zero help in finding a new sitter.The only explanation given was that sometimes sitters forget to update their availability and diaries.Sitters are then not profiled as priority when listed as a consequence for not updating their availability.This is not acceptable in my view.Sitters are being employed to provide a service and in any other working environment employees are expected to organise their diaries and communicate their availability.It is also polite and professional to communicate on a basic level with those seeking a service.I will not use Rover again as I don’t feel I can rely on them.

Can't book a sitter.and the first sitter that I had to fire still have not returned my key to my apartment.
