Awful experience My dog was bit - had to have surgery- sitter left her with a massive hole for a week in her neck

Our first experience using the Rover services was very disappointing. When our puppy returned home she smelled of urine. Her crate, bed and toys were also soaked and smelled of urine. She also seemed to be very hungry and immediately went searching for food upon returning home. After responding to an email from Rover about my experience I received no comments, apologies, or acknowledgment that my experience was unacceptable. Due to this I have no faith in the safety of the sites services and will likely not use them again.

I've been a pet sitter for Rover for awhile. Anytime I've had an issue the responses I've had from rover is "oh well". I had to turn down a boarding request last minute. The dog was awesome during the meet and greet and we had no problems. When they dropped her off the dog food a 180 as soon as they left. Snarling, lunging, showing fangs and attempting to bite. The owners can review me for the world to see. Which I have no problem with. But I can't review it leave reviews for an aggressive dog that could potentially harm someone? I bring it up to support about how the dog tried to but several times and all I got was a "we appreciate your suggestions" email. Awful support for Rover sitters. And that's only my most recent issue.

We hired a rover who didn’t follow through with the agreement we had set and did not follow his advertising on his rover page. He quit after day 1 of a 7 day house sitting stay and had our key as we were out of state and had two dogs at home this was extremely stressful. This has happened to other customers using the platform and rover needs to do more to protect its clients and more to screen its hosts. We had a terrible experience. We called rover, who told us there was not a lot we could do and that they were busy but would try to find someone to replace our sitter. After more than an hour without word, we called and were told we should just find someone. Meanwhile our dogs were sitting alone crated at our house. Totally unacceptable. And to boot, we only can write a review. Is there further action we can take against this host? It doesn’t seem that way- this same thing already happened to someone else with the same host but we were out of range and could not write a review before she booked the same guy. Our puppies were so stressed they ripped molding off our walls and door frames. (1 was in a crate, the other wasn’t when our friend finally showed up). Who will take care of this damage? Rover support gave us a credit but did not help in resolving the issue or help us find a new host. Also- because the dogs did damage to the house, this is not covered? The dogs did damage because they were left alone all night when they weren’t supposed to have been. How is that not on the sitter for neglecting them? There needs to be more action we can take for this accession and there is definitely more rover can do to help prevent this from happening to others. Step up and protect the pet owners.

My dog was injured and needed medical care after she was sat by an approved Rover Sitter. This happened in our home.

Despite Rover reaching out to me regarding my earlier review involving animal neglect, they have failed to take any action, and just tell me I need to ask the individual petsitter for a refund. I have a dozen photos showing bone dry water bowls, empty food bowls, litter boxes unscooped to the point there was feces/urine outside the box. There was also broken glass all over the counter and floor. Insulin needles left laying around. There was also evidence of snooping through private items. Sure wish I could post the pictures here. Rover, you need to step up here and deal with this situation.

A new rover witnessed on my furbo camera came into my house and started searching through all my drawers and went into a part of the house (upstairs) she wasn’t shown prior. Her excuse was that she was looking for the cat which I told her and left instructions not to search for the cat. Even though there really is no excuse for going through drawers that weren’t even in the area of food, treats, etc. I called rover and initially they seemed to care but afterwards didn’t follow up with me and still charged me a large over 80$ for the visit. Mind you she was there for less than 1 hour and didn’t do any of the animal care needed. Very disappointed and will not use again.
