Rover.com Sitter has lost my two dogs
This is my first experience with Rover and I am not satisfied. The sitter located in Chicago, IL has lost two family members, Remy and Lexi who were left in his care. I received a text message from the sitter informing me that the dogs were missing. He left them off leash, which I clearly stated prior to releasing them to his care that they should not be off leash at any time. In addition to being off leash, they were left unattended in a courtyard rear area without an appropriate closed off area. This experience has been traumatic for our family. In addition to the loss of Remy and Lexi, their food was not appropriately administered and my dogs personal items were not appropriately returned. I have contacted Rover by phone and text messaging. The company printed 100 flyers which are not accurate. It states "dog" not "dogs" it is not clear that two dogs are missing. In addition, the area where Remy and Lexi were last seen is predominately Spanish speaking community. When I ask about assistance with printing accurate flyers and Spanish language flyers I was informed I had the PDF and I would have to print them myself. Calls to Rover resulted in scripted responses of their monitoring a national database and regular reminders that individuals are independent contractors. They stated the vetting process is online and they don't visually inspect each sitter's premises. I was met with "we're so sorry this has happened". To date, I have not received regular updates from Rover or the sitter. My two dogs, our beloved family members are still missing. The negligence of the sitter a contracted provider for Rover and the minimum support from Rover is unsatisfactory. I need help finding my dogs which Rover or the contracted sitter is not providing. Finally, both my dogs are missing and Rover has stated they will only refund the amount for the "unused days".
