The sitter didn't follow any of my instructions and basically ignored my dogs, other than feeding them. She even let them escape at one point, which they've never done before. I left a bad review and let Rover know, but Rover has not even contacted me except to ask me repeatedly to review their service. So now I've reviewed it.

My second rover.com I hired this girl named Krystal and she totally trashed my house!

As a first time client I was very disappointed in the service we received under difficult circumstances. Rebecca was taking care of our cats while we were out of the country. We had our meet and greet, where we discussed the recent fires in California and what would happen if we were evacuated. She said not to worry she would take the cats and care for them. Well her first day Monday Aug 30 she checked in on the cats and text me saying she was leaving the area and we should come home. Very difficult to do on short notice. Her only visit she left my cats on there own with loads of food and water. There litter needed to be cleaned, not done and we were only due to return Sept 5. Rover has not refunded me for the two days Rebecca did not show. I arrived home to a home full of cat mess and very stressed kitties. I will not be using Rover again. I hope I get a refund for services not rendered.

If you happen to get a client while you are a sitter that happens to slander in the reviews Rover acts like they are Yelp. Rover allows prostitutes and other dangerous criminals to leave their dogs at your home and Anything Could Happen I'll go into more detail if you want to know off the internet f*** rover.com

We had a horrific experience with Rover! And it was the first time we had ever tried using you guys. The girl we met and hired had good reviews and a check mark that said she was background checked. She was 100% dishonest and a fake. She was cruel to our dogs, didn’t take care of them and flat out didn’t do the job we hired and paid her to do and ransacked our home - and left our dogs unattended for hours. She left our house abandoned, unlocked, unarmed alarm system, front door wide open - along with leaving our two sweet innocent dogs to suffer!!! You guys advertise this site as if you know who any of your sitters really are ? Clearly you don’t! I think since you guys are such a big company you should have the means and the managers to come out into different areas, sit your asses down and interview some of these “sitters” on your site!!! You should interview potential sitters in-depth and make sure they have a background with animals, experience and solid REAL references!!! Not just friends and family of theirs!! I feel this is very important. You guys really advertise your site as a magical, safe haven for pets and pet parents to find love and specialty care for their beloved dogs, cats, etc when they are away! And yet, you have all these evil people on the site as your “sitters” fooling people left and right. At the end of the day, it is the precious and innocent animals that are getting really harmed in all of this!!! I would never recommend you guys to a friend, family or even a stranger off the street after what we were put through with your “professional sitter”!

Slow replies , over priced and incorrect advice , nothing but problems using it

You have emailed me everyday since I used your services. This absolutely sucks. Next time I go out of town I will leave my dogs on the side of the road.

We have hired Rover a couple of times to take care of our cats when we travel. Most of the time, we found them reliable and our cats well cared-for. We should have known better though. When we first established a relationship with the pet-sitter, he was a no-show for the initial orientation to the cats and our home. That said, we still needed the service, and we gave him and Rover a second chance. The first couple of experiences were fine. However, this pet-sitter and Rover put us in quite a predicament when they canceled our most recent booking on us while we were already traveling. Although the pet-sitter was unavailable for the first two days of our trip, our neighbor agreed to help out until the Rover pet-sitter was available. Then, unexpectedly while our trip was already underway, the pet-sitter canceled our service explaining he had quit the job and returned to his regular employer. Rover refunded the money but never offered another pet-sitter or even an apology for the HUGE inconvenience this created while we were 7 time zones away. We will not be hiring Rover in the future.
