Sitters can cancel on you at the last…
Sitters can cancel on you at the last minute with No Penalty and Rover will not do anything to compensate the customers or help them find a new sitter; but if you cancel on a sitter you will be charged half Total Costs. I recently had a sitter tell me she was on her way to pick up my dogs before my flight I had paid for round trip pick up and sitting in her home. She called to tell she was on her way for 8am pickup. My flight was at 10am. My dogs and I are waiting and waiting and waiting, we're calling and calling and texting her asking if everything is okay - no response. Now it's 8:37 a.m. She finally responds and tells me Her car broke down so she canceled through the Rover app and they were supposed to let me know. I offered to get her an UberPets and she hangs up on me. Rover never called to tell me she canceled nor did they help me find another sitter. This was a total nightmare they only gave me $20 compensation. This has also happened before when I was out of the country. I prepared for a sitter to watch my dog and a friend was going to drop them off. The sitter called to tell me that his friend's mom was sick and he was going to be watching his friends mom's dog instead. Although that was Noble of him I was left with no sitter and out of the country again Rover did not help me find another sitter and I was not compensated. Although I have had some good Rover sitters this is my number one complaint with the company. Ultimately they don't seem to care about their customers. The good sitters care about their customers Rover as a company does not seem to care based on my experiences.
