There is no way to communicate with Rover when there is a problem. The Help page just leads you around in circles. Unable to leave a negative review of a sitter who was unsafe.

The dog sitter was fine but now I am being spammed and asked to fill out daily “surveys”! Enough already! Geez. I’m going to the kennel!

I’ve been a walker through Rover for a number of years with glowing reviews from my customers. Rover switched over their payment processor from a service that sent payment to my account within two days, to a service that takes 5 days to release funds and requires the walker/sitter to hand over their social security number. That service has a number of fraud complaints against it. Rover’s response is indifferent to concerns and won’t release the monies I earned through them. They are obligated to pay me the money I earned through them, I am not required to suddenly hand over personal information to a separate company with fraud issues. RESPONSE TO ROVER: I did contact your support team, they told me what I posted above, if I don’t hand over my social security number, I won’t get the money I earned. There is no way I’m handing over my personal information to a company that has fraud complaints against it and Rover should be helping those people who have made money for it. Rover already took their share, they don’t seem to care what happens after that.

The sitter never showed up and didn’t call for almost 24 hours after they were due. When I called Rover to express my concern since the sitter notified me that she had an eating disorder and I felt that it was dangerous for her to watch people‘s animals if she couldn’t properly take care of herself, rover said they couldn’t remove her from the platform because it was an illness. I was offered 100 rover dollars which I would never use as I have no intention of using rover ever and I’ve already told several of my friends with dogs to not use the service. I booked a service with Rover a few days ago and today, the first day of the service, I had the sitter cancel on me last minute while I was at work leaving me with my hands tied. I couldn’t relieve my dog or feed him for 11 hours coming home to pee all over and a hungry pet (which happens to be a new pet so being forced to having them experience that from their new owner is beyond). I’m frustrated that sitters are allowed to do this without any repercussions. She asked me last minute where I lived and decided that she was uncomfortable walking my dog in that area at night (being 6:30PM) despite it being filled with restaurants and having a lot of people around. She had a few days to decide if she felt ‘comfortable’ and research my address, yet she confirmed the booking anyway. I understand the personal concern, but to notify me last minute is beyond unprofessional and her response was less than desired. It’s unfortunate that I can’t even write a review on her profile on Rover to warn others of this negative experience. Her response: I am sorry for the late cancelation. I have been working this morning and just looked at your location. I am sorry for being unprofessional in your eyes, but I care for my personal well-being as well.

I dropped my 1 eyed dog off and got him back a no-eyed dog due to neglect of the Rover sitter I hired. Rover has done absolutely nothing to help my boyfriend and I with the vet bills even after we have provided the invoices totaling 3 grand and the SOAP notes. Very disappointing being we have a baby on the way and we had to spend all of our savings on a procedure to have my dogs last eye removed.

Booked and paid for a sitter. All confirmed. The sitter told us to contact her after Christmas to arrange meet ups. However when I tried to contact my sitter my messages were unanswered, texts unanswered and the contact number given on the account was not recognised. This went on for about 2 weeks. Eventually I contacted Rover and spoke to someone there. They told me that the sitter had become inactive. No reason as to why or if it was temporary or not, Rover had no idea. No previous warning from the sitter, nothing. If the sitter decides they no longer want to be active or are taking a break, the very least they could do is inform their clients first! Needless to say I cancelled the booking.

Rover paired us with someone who abandoned our dog and lied to us. When we informed Rover about this they said they could not meet with us to review documentation of what had occurred. Rover seems not to trust or care about its clients. Customer beware Rover is a message board that does not take responsibility for what goes on its site.
